Another hourly vs salary question

So, it seems like people on here are 50/50 for hourly vs the salary systm we now have.
One of the main complaints from the hourly side is that we are getting screwed with packages.
I personally like the salary side of the house.

I dont think RRECS will ever be implemented. And if it is, it is so difficult to comprehend and depends so much on management submitting info correctly on a daily basis I do not trust it.

My question is this...if we had yearly mail counts so that our routes stayed more up to date, would that change your mind?
Maybe alternating between a Feb and Sep count time.

hourly unless the rural count would apply across the board to all salary employees from the top down volume down all managers take a pay cut staffing drops because less mail = the need for managers has dropped office levels drop again less mail = your office level is not that high. From DC down to main street USA the numbers are available to start this tomorrow from the last national count.

Short answer: no

The city ot sign up sheet just went up and I'm so frustrated..
They have choices..we do not...:
No ot
Work assignment only
10 hr
12 hr
And its posted quarterly
Must be nice??

Wow. I thought more would be on favor of the evaluated system.
I feel like I work all day, but that is only cause we cant start till 830. But when I look at my time sheet, I am (now anyways) typically just under 40.
We are getting slammed by Amazon, but I say at least 2/3 are getting done under eval...well they are back and gone before me anyhow.

I haven't been over my eval too much because I haven't had any flats in forever.

But.

I haven't been under because of packages.

So, I would be happy with hourly. I work the same pace all the time - so.
I would be working 40 and 2 hours OT most weeks...and if no OT, I'd be happy to do my 8 and go home. :)
Hourly all the way for our office! One route occasionally beats eval. The other 5 are 9 1/2- 10 1/2 every day. So basically 2 hrs unpaid every day. It stinks! Give us hourly. Not going to slow down

So you dont think having a more regular count would equal things out and bring back that " incentive" to hurry and finish and get paid more for less hours...not less work, just less hours.
I would assume those 10 to 12 hour routes would be counted and cut to be more reasonable of course... but maybe I am too naive??

Something needs to be done that's for sure! The problem I see in my office and I'm sure it's the same everywhere is that the only thing that has been consistent in regards to mail flow has been change! Just as soon as you think you have things resolved with route cuts, the bottom will fall out and you would be f---ed.

They can cut to their hearts content but there is nowhere to put the cuts. Make an aux and you would have to find someone to run it. Not happening in our area. Few to no rcas

Go hourly and you get micromanaged like the city: MGMT tells when to leave, you get to sort packages in the parking lot, you get to carry a hour and a half on this other route plus your route, oh and everyone is working ten hours (again) today. (City carriers get their "eight hour day" once a week.)
No thanks!

Our office is finally catching up to other offices I've been reading about on here for 9 months...Woefully short on rca's and no new ones in sight.

This is perhapps where the seperation lies. You think you are writing about a hypethetical situation. We are micro managed. It is very important to the Postal Service to keep our standards above that of City Carriers. The subs already carry other routes. Some carriers are already carrying other routes for the extra money even when we don't have agreements that allow it.

It is only a matter of time before what you wrote comes true even if we are not hourly.

Micromanaged only on the city nope they have been doing it to us for years worked 12 hours Friday my route 9.5 hours 8 hour route nothing extra in my pay check. Order out to help on another and don't give me they can't do that I told them that. This a order do it greave it union said I will get paid for it. Have to do parcels in the parking lot yep that too I have not work less than 9 hours in 5 months we started getting Covid Christmas in February. How many hourly employees are forced use AL to stay under yearly hours like us. Everything is not Rainbows and Unicorns in this craft.

We are getting micromanage now...see threads on changing start times. City routes are 8 hr routes..theoretically. Not sure what the difference between loading/ sortin at the loading dock or parking lot?..we are getting forced in on relief days now...we used to work 2 hours under during slow months( April- august and it would even out...how many people are working 1 - 3 hours over all year long? No slow time in years...tired of this dead horse...

I have counted every year since 1996. Personally, I'm done with counts. I'm just riding this pony into retirement. If I had longer to go I would take the twice a year bet. Twice a year at least gives a shot at correcting a poor evaluation without waiting a full year.
Yee haw.... ride that pony.... I'm right there with ya ... hoping this ship doesn't go belly up before I can get off.... the good ship USPS Titanic..... she's going down.... but the band played on.....
