Formula does the opposite. You can end up losing your Saturday if there aren't subs and it gets recalculated. It basically allows management to give the carrier a day off during the week versus Saturday only. Depending on the type of person you are, it can be good or bad. If you like having a day off during the week to get appts done, a formula office is fine. If you prefer two days off in a row, it will be hard to get that if your seniority is low.
Or if your sub count is low. A week off for a vacation? Yeah, that's probably not going to happen, unless EVERYONE in the office cooperates.

I have no idea what you're talking about. We had a carrier take off four months in a formula office. Management has to follow the Order of Consideration, and the only reason they can deny the leave is if there are no leave replacements.
Not every carrier wants Saturday off. Some want a day off during the week to get things done. For example, we just added eight Saturdays to our Matrix and the top 15 carriers that have a non Saturday K day did not want to switch to a Saturday. Carriers call in no matter their K day.
Formula office works so much better in an office with many carriers. Consider what happens with 4 routes, 1 PTF and no applicants for RCA. Hence the needed cooperation. No applicants for over a year by the way. Currently an all POV office, maybe a couple of the vans will come our way. PM claims lack of sizeable ride is the problem with people taking an RCA position.

we are a formula office and ever k day I am called in or have been mandated in because the RCA's are working 7 days a week the regulars are working 6 days a week mandated for 2 months 2 subs for 16 routes 2 aux routes only and a ptf that is unable to work because he has pictures of the pm and a goat.

That’s just crazy too me. I’m in a formula offfice and currently have a J route. But I’d kill to have a K route with Saturdays off. We do have a couple carriers with high seniority who have Mondays. It works for them. Otherwise, I’d take Saturday hands down.
If you're a J route, you have to have every other Saturday off. To be honest, the best day in my opinion is either Fri/Sat rotating or Tuesdays off. Practically every Holiday falls on a Monday, so you get a three day weekend and generally won't have to do advos.
