Pay Scale

I have a question hoping someone can explain. I have worked as RCA for 7 years. Next Saturday will be my first day as a Career Employee 😀. I will be on a k route, paid 41, evaluated at 48:44. I do not know how to read pay scale or understand that. Anyone know what my starting pay will be???

I made an image of your pay table:

Since your hire date is after August 11, 2012, you will always be on Table 2. Reference the number of hours (in this case, 41) on the far left, then go to your current step which is 1. Every 52 weeks you will increase an additional step and receive that number as your salary.

You can always find the date of your next step in Liteblue under eOPF (personell folder).

$51,976 on Table1. For time reference, you will work six years before surpassing what someone on Table1 gets their very first year.

You'll also be getting about $3/hr paycut. It'll take about 5 years to get back to your RCA hourly wage.

I think I read somewhere about protecting wages and benefits somewhere in the contract. We're probably the only union in the world that allows a pay cut to go regular. And probably the longest apprenticeship in the world of 15 years to realize your full pay.

Thank You! Next Qustion, is pay based on route evaluation? Like Route is at 48:44 but I will get one day of during weeks so I would be at 41. If that makes since.

This is actually not correct. The hourly rate for a Table 2 Step 1 carrier is currently $20.95, the rate for a Table 4 RCA is $19.06. So there is actually a slight increase in the hourly rate.

Carrier is Table3 according to when they started? Maybe someone can elaborate on if they recieved a retroactive pay cut if hired before the contract was ratified? Wasn't it ratified in 2015? I never got a pay cut prior to going career in 2016. Only after did I get the shocking Revelation that my wages and benefits were not protected.

They said they had worked as a RCA for 7 years so that would probably be some time in 2014. Any RCA hired after August 11, 2012 is paid at the Table 4 rate. So this carrier is on Table 4 in this case.

What should frost any table 2 carrier is that you either get a big pay cut if hired before 8/11/12 or a miniscule pay raise if hired after that date. So much for the carrot of turning regular.

Think the only new deduction I will have is pension. I have the insurance already, hoping it will be cheaper now that I’m full time.
Health Insurance will probably be more but it will be better coverage. You also have life insurance you pay. Pension is over 4%. You should probably do at least 5% into TSP(401K) since it is matched.
