I am getting a PO vehicle

So that's what they told me when I tried to get a incentive. No dice your route will be getting a vehicle. I have a 90 mile route probably 70 percent gravel in a climate of ice and snow in the winter. Most days a fancy new metris will be fine. But a dozen or so it may not make it. I won't be breaking out my jeep for those days! :)

I’ve heard the new vehicles will be starting to come out to carriers in January from the last pms meeting with upper management. Whether that’s us or city that gets them first wasn’t mentioned.

-- Be sure to make the point to manglement that since you are getting a postal-provided vehicle, you WILL be selling you Jeep as soon the the Metris shows up. Well, you don't really have to sell it, but manglement doesn't have to know! Manglement better have a replacement vehicle handy when the Metris experiences difficulties out on your route.

-- Hopefully you have read the postings regarding "O" Time that accumulates when a postal-provided vehicle breaks down.

-- Just exactly how long ago did manglement inform you that a Metris would be placed on your route?

-- With the negative comments about the Metris in winter and gravelly roads, looks as if your members of manglement don't follow this web site.

-- Let us know how the Metris performs on your route.

According to the original deployment schedule, over half of all Metris vans are to be arriving in 2022... so, you probably won't be the Lone Ranger.... Will be interesting to see how quickly they get them out.... 🤷‍♂️ 🧐

They deployed a bunch to city cbu routes out here. They are slowly removing them for parcel runs only or driver training vehicles. Some of the carriers really like the AC. But, apparently they are not difficult to break into according to inspection service.

Right on....once you get a government postal vehicle you're not required to have your own vehicle available for service. If it breaks down, that's the post office management's problem to have a loaner or yours repaired.

Does the post office senior management ever make a well thought out decision?

That's a rhetorical question, folks. We all know the answer.

And you might want to have GrubHub or something on your phone for long waits. I have waited 3+ hours on the road after a breakdown. Waiting in the morning isn't as bad. But, stranded on roads sucks.

Oshkosh is building a new plant in Spartansburg SC.

Production isn’t even expected to begin until summer 2023.

January 2024 maybe.

Have they cancelled the originally projected Metris van deployments for 2022.. js... there was supposed to be a bunch deployed in 2022.. 🤷‍♂️ 🧐

If so, I'm suggesting they use Covid as the excuse.
Don't underestimate the power of wokeness, and the green new deal.... they were throwing a fit that the USPS was procuring gas burners... they want it to be all electric vehicles.... so, maybe they cancelled the gas burners.. 🤷‍♂️ 🧐

My District has alre been sending them out as of last week. Routes won’t get them until after Peak Season ends, though. They’ll be used for Parcel Runners.
