New RHD incentive pay

bumpyride

New member
I ordered a 2021 RHD Jeep in January. Got it March 6. Turned in proof of purchase March 8. Signed the form to receive the incentive pay.
Asked manager when will I receive the pay. Said he would check on it. It is June...no pay. Has anyone purchased a RHD and received the
incentive pay? If so, how long did it take to get paid?

Did you use the form (not sure of the number) that states your intention to purchase a RHD vehicle ? At that point, mgt either informs you that you will not be getting a po vehicle in 3 years or will be getting a po vehicle not sure of the time frame on that. Then if no po vehicle, you turned in the incentive form.

When I had a competent pm it took a month or so. Loser pm 3 months.

Yes. A form was filled out. Sadly this PM may be nice person, but I don't think he knows how to do
certain paperwork. He is very forgetful too. We (our office) believe he BS'd his way into management.
I keep asking him about the incentive. He keeps saying he will check on it.
I don't think he ever turned it in. Who do I call to get this looked into?

You did it against the written policy. Read MOU8.

You were supposed to fill out the paperwork, then get a written answer within 10 days. You then have 60 days to purchase a vehicle. Or the post office will provide a gov vehicle within 60 days.

Too many local cases around me of carriers doing exactly what you did and getting a gov vehicle months later. Sticking you with the cost.

I submitted 2 with no answer. Unfortunately, it's an MOU. And like harassment in the workplace, it's optional to enforce MOUs.

Tell you pm you need to file a grievance about not yet receiving your incentive pay for buying a right hand drive. If he can't get it "re-filed" file away. By the way ANY carrier that buys a right hand drive that has never been used in the "USPS right hand drive incentive program" previously can apply for the$1000 incentive award. That includes the Japanese imports that are 25 years old.

I do not think you can get a $1000 for a RHD vehicle that iis 25 years old.

I filled out the form with the intention to buy a new jeep and it was denied because I was supposed to have a new van coming. Guess what?? No van and my jeep is getting older every day. My route is 116 miles and about 50 are gravel.

There are age rules for the vehicle being purchased. The majority of the “Japanese” vehicles available for purchase are too old for the incentive payment. See MOU #8 in the National Contract.

Took me 3 months to receive my incentive pay back in 2018. Now the 3 years are up, they gave me a GOV supposedly. I am off work for a surgery and was just told by my clerk that I got one for my route. Good bye POV. Hello POS.

Please read MOU 8
In 1 A (1) it states:
The right hand drive vehicle must be a new current model year or prior model year THAT HAS NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY TITLED.
That "Not previously titled" part is our loop hole for getting the incentive of $1000 for imported Japanese right hand drives. These vehicles will be found not to have been previously tilted.
I have had this work multiple times in my office.

Not previously titled wasn't an issue for me. Got a 2017 in 2018 and it was titled to a mail lady from WV. I bought it, sent in paperwork, waited and got my $1000...well about $600 after taxes in Pa.

What you quoted basically means that if it hasn’t been previously titled AND is new current or previous year. It’s not enough that it hasn’t been previously Titled. Any vehicle older would fall under the “Used” portion of that MOU of which it must be within 5 years of age & would only receive $500.
The Japanese imports are typically 10 yrs or older & don’t qualify. I bought one many years ago & regretted it. It was too old for any incentive & I was constantly fixing it. The company that sold it, did not repair items if they didn’t feel it was necessary AND told me that I could not get repairs done at a dealership ?

I did just this and I'm still waiting for my incentive pay I got a 21 rhd wrangler 12 miles on it when purchased. Still waiting on incentive and it has almost 8k miles 180 a day 6 days a week minus holidays and Sundays.

Like with everything it seems. Putting in a grievance is the only way to get money owed you.

The incentive is taxable income at around 43%. So don't expect but around $600. You may want to wait till the 1st of the year depending on if that $1,000 puts you in the next highest tax bracket.

I did ALL the correct paperwork, and still NO money. I turned in my request for payment in February or March of this year. I filed a grievance and was told by union that I would be paid and that my Postmaster has done the paperwork twice but……. NO money yet!

I submitted mine over 69 days ago. Still no postal vehicle. Can I get the 1000 for not having my van Yet? If so where in Writing? Please.
