Anyone else having mail brought back from subs

I’m a rural sub. My reg tells me to leave whatever I don’t feel comfortable taking/doing. I try to leave her nothing!
Just as a matter of professionalism, and courtesy, I've always tried to leave as little (or no) mail for anybody who is working the next day after me... when I was a sub, my Reg would always come back and thank me for taking way more phone books than they had imagined that I would... I never left sets of box holders for anyone... unfortunately, since I've been a Regular, I've had several subs that seem to think their goal in life is to deliver the absolute minimum mail that they can get away with... and that's included not taking phone books, nor boxholders when they can get away with it... to me, mngt allowing this is just encouraging a poor work ethic among future carriers and making a less professional and courteous working environment...

Ask yourself how you would like to be treated, and then try to treat others that way... if you wouldn't like mail left for you, then don't leave it for others... just sayin'... not rocket science here...

Back in the day........it was every piece everyday........not anymore.......... it is slop over the route .........My PM told the Sub that works the Route I am assigned to on my day off..........."do the best you can.......but don't spend much time and get done by 5". Last time I was off on a Monday.....I was met at the back door when I came back and told by the PM to take a deep breath before I went to the case...........it was that much of a mess.

No pride in work anymore..........so instead of getting done by 5..........the Sub gets done at 2:00..........and doesn't come close to doing the job.........or taking all the mail and parcels..........and burns the boxholders...........so everytime you think it can't get worst......it can.

While there may be an understandable reason why there is leftover mail, that doesn't mean the leftover mail gets delivered for free the next day by the regular. Someone needs to be paid to deliver it. If the RCAs can't finish the route in the evaluated time, they should come in the next day and deliver it as auxiliary assistance. If management doesn't want the RCAs the next day, they pay the regular to deliver the left over mail.

If the RCAs are unable to deliver the route due to poor work performance, then they need to be corrected/disciplined.
What about the SS(sorry sub) that brings back NOTHING..... no dps in wrong order, no missed boxes, no mail left in the box from previous day given back, no mail that you realized you missed 6 boxes later, no mail given back RTS, NO MAIL , I walk around in everyone's case on Saturday before going home and EVERY case has SOMETHING in it except SS...…………..What say yee? Where is this SS mail?

RDRuckus -- "Are you sure it's called a full day's relief in this scenario? The RCA doesn't have a relief day."

-- Pretty sure in this instance "relief" refers for working the mail left for the next carrier and not a relief day.

Our office sends these people back out the next day to deliver it lol even on Sundays.

I dont know how carriers cant finish a route at this time of year. I have only not finished a route 3 times and that was twice because of bad weather and once because it was after a holiday with so much mail that I was not the only one returning at 7 PM.
Every office is different.

I did a 8.6 / 90 mile route today for the 2nd time. It's the middle of the week. Packages and Amazon especially were like December. Start time 0715...Got back 1715 and cased curtailed standards until 1745 when they locked up. Any new RCA looking at this will very likely not come back. It's juts.

.......and burns the boxholders.......

If you know for a fact they weren't delivered or UBBM'd then it needs to get reported. I know people like to joke about burning EDDM because it is no fun to deliver but some person/business paid Hundreds of Dollars Per route to have those delivered - many of them, at least in my area, are small family owned businesses who can only afford this type of advo.

Nothing gets me more angry than people who destroy our business, or let competitors use our boxes. Have pride and deliver the crap or step out of the way and let someone else do the job.

It has been reported........many times.......by 2 different Carriers to 3 different PM's or OIC's..........so I have given up trying........mainly because you are the person who gets ostracized, abused and criticized.........and generally not believed.......but you and I both know the Regular Carrier knows if a boxholder has been delivered. And then there is the fact.........the RCA's husband went to the bar and bragged about helping his wife the RCA burn them.

Sandygirl............yes that is very strange......in fact so strange....it is impossible........my SS does the same........there is all matters of ways to get "rid" of mail............

Maybe I was not clear they are called back in by PM, they are supposed to be back in 4:45 so they don't miss the truck. They then case up all that they did not deliver and what they curtailed in the morning. Then they hide the packages over to the side and work them in when they are sorting through the packages in the morning, I guess we are too stupid to figure out that the subs put numbers on these packages so that doesn't alert us to the fact it was brought back. o_O

A call to the postal inspectors will fix it

Yesterday I got a note from a Customer along with the 3849 she was given on Saturday the 6th..........."I was home Saturday, could you please bring my meds back tomarrow" this Parcel needed a Signature.........so this morning I ask the PM to look up where the 3849 was scanned.....RCA worked Saturday...............sure enough never taken to the door............I am done with this ineptness......told the PM I am going to want 8127 time for this redelivery.........maybe when they start paying twice to have a parcel delivered thing will change.

On a side note.........we were watch the PMG video today..........was I the only one that heard her say......make a real effort to minimize redeliveries...(paraphrased).....the PM shot me a look........I said "NO true words were every spoken".

maybe like one sub I know - everything that gets brought back is either dumped back in with outgoing mail or sent to utf. with no regard for whether the addy is good or not.

Are the scanners really that accurate that they can tell mailbox from door? I asked because I was stopped as I came back in the post office one afternoon, and I laid down everything I was carrying right there to help with something. When I picked everything up, I accidentally left the scanner laying there. I went to my case and started putting things away and later realized my scanner was missing. After asking my supervisor to check the location, he said it was on post office property, but he couldn't tell where. So is it really that precise?

I was off yesterday, and a sub with limited experience on my route had to run it. So I came back today and found the usual mistakes on the route,
including a parcel that was scanned at 5:30 as "held at post office for customer pickup" (in other words, the sub missed the parcel.) I also found a package in a mailbox that was so tightly wedged in there that the customer could not get it out. But the biggest thing, and the one thing that bothered me the most was that I checked my NOV when I got back (I was warned that the sub put first class mail in there sometimes), and I was shocked to find all kinds of deliverable standard mail in there. Mail for people who live on the route and are good deliveries. I suspect that the sub was running out of time and just decided to throw away standard mail for a number of boxes so that they could get done faster.
How serious is this?

the active tracking is not, but the pin drops during a scan are very accurate - if your PM has time ask them to show you the pin drops from where you scanned parcels on your route. Every time I have seen my own on the PM's computer (usually when a customer complains but never bothered to check outside their door) the pin drop on the map is exactly right where I left the parcel.

Call the inspection service. It will stop fast

Am I understanding the theme of this Post?

You people actually have RCA's/ Substitutes in your office... And you are complaining about them?

We're supposed to be happy about a warm body throwing mail just anywhere, delaying mail and in general, making more work for us?

I don't think so.

I really wish that I could have one of the RCAs on this board as "my" sub. They care enough about their job to be here seeking knowledge, not just running the hell out of a route and turning in a slipshod performance.

Get off my lawn... ?
