All our LLV's are being replaced by FFV's

Over the last couple months our LLV's have been replaced with FFV's. They run much better but other than that the LLv's are much better. Shelves, access to rear, space between seat and tray and tight turns. FFv's have none of this.

Ibpd16 -- "Over the last couple months our LLV's have been replaced with FFV's."

-- Any idea where the replaced LLV's are going?

-- Only got to inspect a couple of FFV's which were delivered ( in error ) to my post office. In fact, most of the carriers and manglement went out to look them over. No one was overly impressed by the newer delivery vehicle -- aside from the extra window in the cargo area.

-- Most likely the FFV was designed with no input from city or rural carriers.

-- At least the USPS asked for input from carriers and VMF employees for the NGDV back in 2014, but only in the narrow window of 3-14 July 2014. Suggestions were to be submitted to supervisors or managers ( who probably saw a good idea and submitted it themselves! ).

-- If the USPS goes with the Mercedes, none of the companies that took the time and $$ to create a delivery vehicle per the USPS's spec will ever do it again.

We used to call them "Monkey Trucks" because you had to have the agility and strength of a monkey to retrieve mail from the rear without exiting the vehicle. Zero extra space up front and limited cargo room in back rendered them useless most days for high-volume, parcel-heavy routes and it's hard to believe, but they were actually worse on the snow and ice than the LLVs.

Personally I like LLV best. I would like the extra window in FFV.. As a sub I had one route with a LLV and one with FFV. I hated that tray would not move in FFV and like someone said you had to be a monkey to get in back . I thought it had more power than LLV had, their age might have been the difference .

Our PM and everywhere in our area are getting rid of LLVs when someone retires/new route is created and replacing them with......... Nothing. Making them POVs. Guess whos next to become regular. This guy. Yay!!!!! Not

I know most people now like having a LLV, but they cheat us by cutting our pay . I don’t see any difference in how I carry mail from my POV and their precious rattle trap, that they forced on my route. My 4 wheel drive Jeep would go in the snow and had air for the hot summer months. Not to mention the radio.

I prefer the FFV's window/reaching out angles. And the space up on the dash!

And the rear door not being at an incline. Most annyoing part of getting a loaner LLV from VMF

This is just a technical issue but, anyone get a day of driver trainer on ffv? You are required to be trained on any vehicle you drive. Llv training does not translate to ffv training.

I did find out this week. There is no training required for Dodge Mini vans used by many city carriers. For the large Dodge Sprinter van there is a training class.

The reason I know this tid bit of info is because it was brought up for training a Newbie with what is going on with C19.

I start a new thread about training Newbies around here.

I drove an FFV on a Sunday once, that thing had some giddy up to it! Not sure if they're all like that. I cant believe they're making us go from LLV to POV tho when we go regular. That's not what we were told when hired:/ only in an emergency

If your route is assigned a vehicle, it usually stays that way.

thats the easy time for them to take a post office supplied vehicle away, when the route is vacant. no way to fight it, as that is what the contract allows.
