Defund the Union!

While I agree and support RCAs being paid time and a half for Sundays, back in 2018 I put forth a hand full of resolutions. One being that RCAs be paid time and half for Sundays and double time for working a Holiday.

I wasn’t a delegate that year, but I read the magazine and the conversation on it. 2018 there were 3 or 4 different resolutions that made it to national. Mine was clean cut to the point, but it got roped in with the others and some of the more known voices spoke at the mic against it. I can’t remember what their counter argument was to it, but it and the remaining resolutions didn’t pass.

The National Board is only going to argue for the resolutions passed at the convention. Even then there isn’t any transparent documentation if they even argue for a resolution. Even more so in the past 3 years there have been hundreds of resolutions that have passed. It’s hard to imagine all of them make it to contract talks even though they passed.
So, you’re basically agreeing that the union is useless?

I agree I am using my union dues to cover the loss of my POV. When they start stepping up to the plate and earn the money that we give them not the attitude they are entitled to our money. They are just like us, we are here to serve.

I would say one member one vote for all national and state officers to get control back to he membership but we don't vote and the same talking heads would remain in power just like now so how about no more than 2 consecutive years on Duke street you can go back after you work your route for a year harder to stay out of touch that way

The union is useless conversation to me is short sighted.
This is more of a “10 second per package delivery ” issue. Currently we are getting 10 seconds per package whether take it the front door or leave it at the mailbox. Do/Should we get additional time/distance to lug that package around? The union never clarify on this issue and the PO- 603 is really vague about it.

Rural Deviation et al -- " Before COVID hit I was contemplating a Constitution Change that any sitting National Board member must take 2 weeks to deliver their route each year. The tricky part is the pigeon hole of the counter argument the RCAs holding down that route would have to start their 90 day hold down over again. I thought about language protecting an RCA to stay on leave earning status during theses events, but the catch on that is it would have to be negotiated with the USPS so effectively barring it from a Constitutional change if that add on was a part of it. "

-- Why not let the RCA stay in a leave-earning status as more than likely it will take most of the two weeks to get national board members up to speed on the changes since they have been at HQ.

-- Who knows, just maybe the USPS would like to see national board members in a stressful situation.

Ihatesnow -- " How do you get out of the union? My anniversary is june or July, not sure how to find it."

-- Call Shared Services in NC to find out your anniversary date. 877-477-3273

-- Or check your e-file.

-- If it is June, sorry, you'll be a dues paying member for another 11 months.

-- If it is July, better hurry as you only have a 10-day window at best.

-- Search for the thread: "I'm quitting the union which date do I use?"

-- Probably something in RI's KNOWLEDGEBASE Section too.

I don't believe two weeks of exceptionally gentle treatment for a National Representative working their Rural Route would keep them informed about what is happening in the real Rural Carrier world. If anything, their ignorance would be reinforced because of the exceptional treatment that they should expect to receive.

How could that ever match the gentle bleating of the sheep?

A rancher showed me the old goat that led the sheep and its friends the guard dogs. It makes one wonder at what level an interest in power develops.

.
That was my thoughts as well, but being as it concerns benefits given by the postal service the National Board would have to argue for it in contract talks. I really doubt anyone of them are arguing for the opportunity to be on the ground level unfortunately.
I do applaud you for all that you have been trying to do for a change. You are at least 10 years behind, many feel that since I pay I should be represented is a fact, I myself thought the same 5 years ago and our job is still declining. Today I am just mad for what is going on and believe that the only way to get unions' attention is pulling out of the union. Writing to the union about our concerns is pointless, no matter what road you go down the union is so set in their ways, so you all talk about having them carry for 2 weeks, how many years will that be implemented if it actually comes to fruition, do you really think these hotshots are going to go with this? Why do you think they took the position in the first place? WAKE UP the only way to change the mess of ASSOCIATE NOT UNION, in my opinion, is pulling out because we need a full overhaul. We can't even vote in our President so rigged.. I am all for union and will be the first to sign back up once we actually have a union. All we have at the moment our leaches sucking us dry.

If everyone that wants change in the Union pulls out, there won't be anyone left to effect the changes we want!!

Good start for a clean slate and actually have a real union not an associate. We are paying just as much as other crafts who actually have a real union, in some cases more.
