Juneteenth

is that the same as "as soon as administratively possible"?
The whole statement sounded like a bunch of double-talk gobble-de-gook that really didn't clearly say anything..... yes or no, are we getting any holiday pay for working the holiday THIS year????

Maybe "Dave" can clarify this for us.... ?

Well.....if it was any other issue, I'd wholeheartedly agree no doubt. However, this is a national holiday, and they'd be hard pressed to screw with that. Always room for a first time to screw that up though.

But....management's awesome track record...can't shed that, can they??? And hey, the national memo came from none other than the Chief HR Officer and Assistant Postmaster, how could you ever doubt such huge and awesome titles????

At least those who were scheduled got paid as regular day. Coulda been worse.

So what does that mean.... are we getting holiday pay for THIS year, as we worked the holiday.... sheezy Louisy.... just come out and tell us, in plain English..... hey y'all we're gonna give you holiday pay for working this year, since we "fully support" this holiday, and you were so essential that we couldn't give you the day off this year.... how about that.... not too hard.... ?‍♂️:giggle:
Now now, these top guys are masters at confusion and obfuscation. They make a career out of saying one thing and then doing something else. Your expectations are far too high.

I don't see where USPS has an option to not pay. It was a Federal holiday. The rules are clearly stated.
The memo from the Chief (Assistant PMG) said the PO couldn't react on one day's notice to halt operations in observance, so the PO would announce a holiday to honor in the near future. Just passing along the memo from the Big Cheese. I don't see the unions fighting this, even APWU yet, so if they get behind something, then maybe.

So what, we're gonna get to observe it in conjunction with the 4th of July..... wth.... why not just say we're gonna get holiday pay for working a recognized National holiday..... seems to me they're just trying to weasel out of paying us.... what alternate day are they proposing.... why is that a little shell game mystery?????‍♂️?

they don't know how to do anything simply and fairly, their first thought is "how do we keep from paying these useless dregs?"

You can bet, I can bet, they'll screw it up. Problem is, we won't make any money because nobody will bet against us.

....

There will be a paid holiday day off in the near future for this year only as other government agencies were accommodated. We will honor the holiday in subsequent years on the same day off as all other government and private sector will.
Where in this statement does it say we'll get an ADDITIONAL day off this year ..... sorry, I'm not seeing it...... ?‍♂️

National mandate stand up I was asked to read today from the new Assistant Postmaster General indicates that since the law was signed, there wasn't enough time to give our employees the day off, as we are critical to the country.

Where is that memo.

The one I read sounds ambiguous at best.

Like “ in the near future we will discuss the annual observance.”
