This is why there is so much dysfunction right now. Many are slow walking the retirement process and not doing due diligence. Just look at the number of retiring NSS staff in this next 8 months. People need to start verifying information with headquarters nrlca. It should not be fiefdoms out there. Absolutely concur, verify if something sounds off.
 
Non linear mail. It’s letter sized mail that comes in order sorted by route. An example would be like a coupon book (think BJs or Costco). It’s in delivery order but not every address gets one and the clerk does not sort it. In my office, each route will get a tray.

I don’t know if I’m explaining this clearly! Maybe someone else will chime in with a better explanation!

ETA: I just thought of another example of NLM—those Viking Cruise brochures.

If I am understanding you, this is absolutely incorrect. Union reps in offices are required to attend. Your steward needs to contact your DR. The PM is not required to accompany the steward or provide transportation, but mileage will be paid.

Steward will be paid P or T time for the day.

Not a “requirement” in my District. The Union Reps are “invited” & not required to be accompanied by mgmt but it does save on using eTravel. It is a P-code Day unless other Union Work is being handled. In my area, if mgmt isn’t going to the same class, the Stew can use the Staff Car if the office has one.

You know, I have always rolled my eyes when I read on this forum about union reps kissing management’s butts—I mean, being overly accommodating to management, but I guess it is so because this training is a big deal in my district and our DR is making sure union reps attend. I’m hearing from people on this forum that DRs in other parts of the country aren’t making that same effort …

I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want all local reps to attend. God knows there aren’t that many of them anyway.
 
That's the way it always was before, though, right? So no scarier than before.

My office does not get that many sortable flats daily. There are many days each week where we get only a handful.
but, i got 20 seconds a mailbox.. and we were promised we would be paid for everything we do, like elections and Christmas season(s)

The presentation on the Union website is the same as what mgmt & Union are using to train the PMs & supervisors is what I’ve been told. The PO is paying the Locals so possibly that is why DRs aren’t “mandating“. The DRs do want the Locals to go but they can’t require mgmt to do so.

Election mail in my office was either DPS, tubbed from the plant, or Full-Coverage which was WSS by me.
Christmas OT Period was never a promise until this Contract. The Union expected it to be skipped since we are hourly over our Evaluations.

As for “20 seconds a mailbox”, not true. I assume you are talking “per day” so Curbsides were credited approx 18.5 seconds & CBUs were credited at 10 seconds.
 
You must be a member to attend this training. That's going to motivate me to become a member! 2 hour zoom meeting about a mini count that basically counts a little raw mail, but when it comes to training about a complex system called rrecs for the last few years we get little to nothing. Usps had training for postmasters this week all day, but also did nothing to train the rural craft about rrecs for the last year. Wonder why? Keep the craft ignorant, lower the evaluations, save many many millions of dollars. Why didn't they just shove a piece of paper to the postmasters and say here you go like they did us?
That was our training also , for the scanner . Here's a piece of paper , that's your training . How can this determine our paychecks ???? So , if I forget to scan , it's my fault , my route loses it . I'm getting a new RCA , brand new , knows nothing about the Rural Craft , how will he ever remember all of this ???? I don't remember all of it myself !!! Whom can I contact , this is unfair treatment of rural carriers !!! We know mail can be manipulated during counts , DeJoy is slowing down first class and who knows what else !! What other job out there , that you've worked for 28 years and your paycheck is going down???? I've got 3 more years to be in 20 full time . I'm retiring and looking to work somewhere else , that when I get a raise , it doesn't get taken away !!! We carried Amazon for 3 years , it's gone now , how convenient . Our hold mail we now keep under our cases , we lose credit because we had to place on a shelf in a different location before . Our parcel carts are close to our cases now , no footage on those either , this is going to be a big s@#$ show

Just like starting on 2-25 we won’t have any flats or raw mail for 2 weeks!

Not sure why you think the union is responsible for non members training. You are not employed by the union and do not pay dues and expect same benefits as paying members. We have all been trained more than once on all of the scans and when to use them. That is the only thing that you can control. People need to have some initiative to learn what they can about rrecs because the supervisors know less than we do about the calculations. No one gave as much training on the old system as rrecs.
As long as the opposite is true. I worked hard to learn what I know about the PO.. mostly on MY time. Why then, should I impart my wisdom to union members?
 
Honestly what is the point of the union. I’m not even joking. Not once have they tried to defend me, reaching out to them is one of the worst experiences, and they have provided no communication and no training on anything.

Objectively, what changes have they implemented?

Late contracts.
Low pay.
No backpay.
USPS not abiding by the contract on multiple occasions.
Do the math add your pay and then add what your bennies would cost you. You will see what the union does for you. I don’t agree with a lot of the crap the union pulls. But I do make good money. And we will get our back pay. If you think you can do better then go do it. Hope you have a skill
