At one time, NRLCA had a peep that helped with disability issues... have you used them yet????Anyone use a law firm, like Harris Law firm in Kentucky. To assist in fers disability retirement?
In theory they are supposed to represent and help all rural carriers, regardless of dues paying status....Just looking for the disability retirement assistance.
But, no, I quit the NRLCA about 7 yrs ago.
No, the union has to represent all carriers in contract questions/grievances and disciplinary situations, but is not required to help in OWCP and or retirement questions, unless you are a member. Just like when you call Devin Cassidy with an OWCP. He has you fill out a questionnaire asking if you are a member. If not a member, he doesn’t offer any advice/information. You get what you pay for.In theory they are supposed to represent and help all rural carriers, regardless of dues paying status....![]()

I paid them for over 20 years, and can't really point to anything they ever did for me... maybe I can will my benefits to someone else.... lol... since I never got any...No, the union has to represent all carriers in contract questions/grievances and disciplinary situations, but is not required to help in OWCP and or retirement questions, unless you are a member. From some of the statements that you have made over the years, you could have filed grievances and gotten a lot of those dues back from the Usps.I paid them for over 20 years, and can't really point to anything they ever did for me... maybe I can will my benefits to someone else.... lol... since I never got any...![]()

Correction: you get much less from the Union than what you pay for.No, the union has to represent all carriers in contract questions/grievances and disciplinary situations, but is not required to help in OWCP and or retirement questions, unless you are a member. Lol... so I hear... the NRLCA is really great, it's the carriers that are the problem... sheezy Louisy... never heard that one before...From some of the statements that you have made over the years, you could have filed grievances and gotten a lot of those dues back from the Usps.
I’m not saying that the value of the union is great, I’m just saying if you PAY FOR IT, you get to use it. If you don’t, should you still get to use it?Correction: you get much less from the Union than what you pay for.
If a carrier (like you) had many opportunities to file grievances and didn’t, should the union step in and file one for them? If the union does this they would be in trouble and you are saying if they didn’t they are a poor union. There are many reasons our union is poor, not filing grievances for carriers that don’t initiate a grievance is not one of those reasons.Lol... so I hear... the NRLCA is really great, it's the carriers that are the problem... sheezy Louisy... never heard that one before...![]()

Believe what you want... I'm with the crowd that says they suck...If a carrier (like you) had many opportunities to file grievances and didn’t, should the union step in and file one for them? I get confused by which side of the mouth some of this stuff is coming from... lol....Correction: you get much less from the Union than what you pay for.
I never said that they don’t, but because someone doesn’t support them, it doesn’t mean they should receive all of the benefits that come with that support.Believe what you want... I'm with the crowd that says they suck...![]()

As I said, believe what you want, and I'll reserve my right to do the same... aka.. you do you, I'll do me... if you're happy where you're at, I'm happy for you...I never said that they don’t, but because someone doesn’t support them, it doesn’t mean they should receive all of the benefits that come with that support.
When speaking of benefits from our union and you say, “Never got any”, it may be true, but if you never tried to get any (never filed a grievance in your career) then the lack of those benefits would be on you, not our sucky union.
I thought greivances could be filed regardless of dues paying status... so, I guess I could have got naked and rolled around in all that grievance payola even without paying the blood sucking dues, right????If a carrier (like you) had many opportunities to file grievances and didn’t, should the union step in and file one for them? Yes you could have. Of course it takes a person with more than just “internet spine” to file a grievance. Someone willing to face a manager doing wrong and fight back. Of the many, many, many of your office problems you’ve mentioned over the years, not once have I heard you mention how you fought back against any of them. I am sure you may have thought of some incredibly pointed emojis about your managers, but never showed them in public.I thought greivances could be filed regardless of dues paying status... so, I guess I could have got naked and rolled around in all that grievance payola even without paying the blood sucking dues, right????![]()
