Can an employee file for sick leave or annual leave after a pay period has ended?

Not sure if I understand your question correctly, but, yes, management can do an adjustment in another pay period to correct an error in leave (e.g. a carrier was charged annual when it should have been sick) from a prior pay period.

Days 1-3 are always on the carrier. So they can use sick, annual, whatever. After that, you’re paid under an injury code until it’s sorted out.Not sure of workmans comp being approved. Might run out of money
