High volume inter unit

ANM

New member
My route is a parent child route and it got approved for high volume service inter unit. Am I supposed to add in the time for this in misc activity for mms or does it automatically get added in? Thanks for any info!

No, nothing required during MMS. You have to add it in during mapping in DPM as a "locked pouch." There should be a toggle for high/low.

I thought I had a slide from a presentation around here somewhere, but I can't find it...

Do you get loading time in addition to the 30 mins a week?

It is all very confusing because the terms mean different things to different people. In my neck of the woods:

Parent/Child route: This is a route that serves multiple zip codes.

Intermediate office: A route begins at one office, cases mail, pulls down delivers all or part of a route. Then goes to a *different* office, cases mail, pulls down and delivers all or part of a route.

Service Inter-Unit (aka lock pouch): You have a dismount where you take mail to another office or a mail room etc.

If route is *only* a parent child route --> No extra credit for this, just the headache of dealing with multiple zips. If the zips jump around your smaller(est) number of DPS is supposed to be counted as raw during MMS.

If route has an Intermediate Office (IMOs) --> I'm assuming there were no IMOs in the study offices, because there are several band-aids to make them work with RRECS.
1. The route should have a lock pouch stop when carrier arrives at IMO
2. The carrier should record "load time" on the scanner when loading at the IMO
3. The route should have another lock pouch stop if/when carrier returns to IMO
4. The route End of Shift (EoS) duties should be recording during the MMS

If a route services a inter-unit (aka lock pouch) --> For example, a rural carrier drops off the mail at a village post office. Should have a lock pouch in DPM. No extra load time.

Hopefully that is clear!

The route is a parent/child route with a lock pouch. The carrier has been getting loading time for the lock pouch (double dipping in my mind). My postmaster is unwilling to do anything to stop this. Minutes and minutes a day on this carriers evaluation. The union says she's not entitled to this time and would be contacting the PM, however it still goes on. She also told me each carrier in the office is entitled to the same amount of loading time every day it occurs...but how?

are you the carrier in question?

or, are you the steward representing this carrier?

if no to both questions, then my advice is to stay out of it.

things have a way of coming around. big brother is watching.

I think what really chaps my a$$ is we have such sorry excuses for management. Postmaster by default. Their lack of knowledge can really hurt my wage, and I really would appreciate better than we have.

Thank you so much. That actually makes a lot of sense. It is intermediate so guess I will have to add second lock pouch for coming back through there. Still am not able to complete my mapping..it's still in the process of being fixed. Thanks! Just trying to get all the info I can

i understand completely.

we had incompetent management for a long time who let a carrier get by with all sorts of shenigans to falsely boost the route.

that management is gone and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

patience, grasshopper. patience.

do your due diligence to your route and let the slackers get their comeuppance. it happens sooner or later. :)
