LLV, no spare and maintenance

how is yalls offices dealing with them fixing your llv or metris? we write it up and the maintenance folks see it and just take it out of the system. They do nothing.

they say they have no spares to bring us either… so if they take it we have to wait for someone to come back. basically start our route at 2pm.. sure they pay us 8127 but that doesn’t help when you have anxiety about starting late and delivering in the dark for no reason.

hey but make sure you are wearing leather shoes for your safety.

We have a local garage which handles the fleet of roughly 33 vehicles. My rear left tail light assembly completely went out. I think they messed up something when they tapped into the wiring system to get those strobe leds going. It goes through a set of tail lights every year?! All my other cars went years without issues with lights but whatever. This was in November. Filled out the slip. Nadda. Also have issues with the thermostat and need tires and could use an oil change and brakes as well as a slow leak in the rear tire. Ironically the leak has helped as running that rear tire at 17 psi really helps with traction with all the snow we have been getting. So much so i dropped the other rear down to about 25 psi. Wish i would have thought of that sooner but a happy accident! I figure when it is four months from my original filing, on my third attempt, i might get those repairs done. I am personally loving this because our p.m loves to blame us for not taking car of the vehicles. Bruh two, gonna be three requests, but it is me, righhhhhtttt?! 😂

Our office does nothing but blame it on VMF. Same situation as you at the moment.

Was without my vehicle for almost 2 months because of a sub while i was on vacation.

My truck has no horn, it stalls/shuts off 5+ times a day, little to no heat and none of the gauges work but I refuse to write it up because I won’t get a spare and will have to start my route at 3pm when a regular gets back.

I began taking a full 30 minute break daily and taking some sprs to the door so I wouldn’t get back early, to avoid subs from taking my truck out when I get back.

Didn’t provide any insight on your thread just thought I’d share that you’re not alone

From what I've learned, VMF is super short handed, for those of us who have post office dedicated service stations. Not only are far more LLV's breaking down due to age and use, with issues that they don't have parts to fix or are over the "fixing" limit (here, it's roughly $1200, so if it's engine or trans you're out of luck)

Our offices are large and have city carriers in them, so city pivots and that frees up an LLV for a rural carrier. Our offices are also close enough so we can maybe find a vehicle at another office if they pivot city instead of have CCA do the full route.

We rarely write anything up because like most everyone here it's ignored. Spoke to head guy at VMF and they can't even get basic stuff done they're so short handed and jammed up with repairs. Used to have two mechanics daily that traveled circuit of offices, now it's zero.

I told them they will need to be buying them for me seeing how I broke my foot at work and now wear special shoes, and by the way you never paid the medical bills from that so I would not be thinking I will be runniing out for the shoes. when they write me up I will use it as T P and hand it back to them.

How do they pay you in this situation? Are you paid to wait or do they send you home to wait for free?

I ask because I never thought pay for two hours really covered going back home. Sitters to be paid, new arrangements to use them latter.
