death in the family friday afternoon. im a k route with a saturday k day. but no rca.I had warned pm that this might happen. 435 pm i try to call off for the next day. Pm doesnt answer phone. I try again an hour later, no answer, I leave a message. Also text that i wont be in the next day. I also let a fellow carrier(rca on a different route) and a clerk know. Saturday morning comes and no one knows whats going on. Pm still doesnt answer phone until around 10 am. Claims not to know whats going on either. So the remaining rcas split a route and got the job done(the rcas that are here are awesome..) Monday, I come into work, visitation is tuesday and funeral is wednesday. I had texted pm on saturday that i needed tues and wed off. Somehow Pm got that message within ten minutes. Monday, I come into work, call Pm to see if I had to file a leave slip for saturday. Pm says no, saturday didnt count for one of the three days. So I asked for thursday off. Suddenly, Saturday counted in one of the three days(?) and pm tried to tell me the rural contract didnt provide for three days off!! a call to the union and i had the mou in hand... Pm refused the thursday off, citing lack of rcas. Well, the rca for the office had been loaned out to another office, and Pm was refusing to take him back for the day. I was a little annoyed(sarcasm) and I told Pm that i was simply going to call in sick on thursday then. Pm then tried to tell me Id threatened her somehow, and that i would now need a doctors excuse for any sick day, and that if i called in, i would face an I&i and be written up 
. I didnt say any more. On a long shot, I called eap to try to get a mental health day. I mustnt know the right routine there, because they said they couldnt give days off. But they did give me an hr phone number. that hr must have been national, because they gave the the regional phone number. The regional hr gave me the mpoo number. I never knew I could contact the mpoo directly. So I asked the mpoo if Saturday counted against the three days. mpoo says no, Saturday didnt count. Said he would straighten it out with pm. 3 hours later I got a phone call from a Pm with a very different attitude. And I had thursday off. All it took was 4 phone calls and about an hour of my time.
