Package pickups

Asking for another carrier.... they have a house on their route that puts in for a package pickup everyday, like 20+ large packages. Carrier wants to know can this be made a dismount since it is every single day? Management says no because it's a package pick up.

Probably should be asking for myself as well since I have a business on my route that submits a package pickup everyday too lol!

It can be added if mgmt wants to allow. It would give you dismount & distance every day plus mileage if applicable. This would also be an adjustment to your evaluation depending on where in your “hour” you are. It would be called a “collection point”.

IF it was added, I believe distance would be calculated to include the number of trips from the customer package location to the vehicle if more than one.

The step 4 on Ship to Store program says dismount, distance, and mileage would be a base hour change. Parcel pickup from a customer is totally different. That is similar to mail count amazon vs amazon the day after count. You might be able to get the additional mileage if an everyday thing and make it part of the line of travel. But the # of parcels and so forth don't get added until a mail count, distance and dismount same thing since they are part of column 21 and 22 credit on count.

Grieve for it like I did. And magically it will be torn off your route and placed on the aux. God forbid you want 0.1 miles and 100 feet dismount everyday. Nope, make the aux drive 15 miles a day, it's cheaper.

It will show the trips in Rrecs, if they only scan what they carry, instead of all of it scanned at once. And scan at point of pick up just like delivery. Authorized dismounts usually concern dismount to deliver the mail. The package concerns are builtin, poorly/inadequately, but built in.

In RRECS, the Carrier has to input how many extra trips it takes to do whatever. This includes at CBU stops, package pickups, parcel delivery, etc.

I had the same situation, my PM allowed me to add it as a dismount (home business) and the additional footage to complete the pick up!

A little off-topic, but a good memory. We had a young mom with an at-home business that we used to pick up things (in POV) once or twice a week.
One day during Christmas time, she had some boxes outgoing, and Free Amazon incoming. I had to leave a note on porch saying I could not fit all the outgoing, and would be back to get them sometime after 5pm.

Haven't had one outgoing item since. Thank God for people that are capable of waking up.
