Possible to Select Secondary Over Primary?

Is it possible for a leave replacement to choose their secondary route over their primary if both are vacant on the same day? The primary route would be covered by the secondary leave replacement so coverage would not be an issue.

and the leave replacement isn't made "unavailable" to work their prime responsibility when management doesn't properly schedule the employee. If this weren't the case, management could play the switcheroo game at will.

It does happen in our office sometimes. RCAs know which routes are more difficult to cover and are willing to switch to make the day more bearable for each other. Most of the time management allows it. As long as the leave replacement voluntarily does this with management’s approval, rather than management forcing it, everyone seems fine with it.

have to ask whats the motive behind this.
I know I have switched to another route then primary when I was an rca for the simply fact said rca knew my primary but didn’t know the other Route. Rather not have another sub be thrown to the wolves like I was. Makes retention really really hard not everyone can run a route cold and not have Huge issues. we always worked it out well in advance with management and fellow subs.
