RCA Primary Route PS50

Hi everyone - just about to finish on the job training and did my first route by myself yesterday. I have been training with someone not on the route that's on my PS50 because she is the only trainer in our office. This stinks because when I get put on my primary route I will have never trained on it.

My question though:

My PS50 indicates the route they hired me for....let's say route 2. But the trainer spoke to the postmaster and said I'll likely be assigned a different route (let's say route 7). Is this normal? I think route 7 is supposedly a more difficult route (has way more stops). They were all surprised at how well I did on my own when I did the trainers full route (neither route 2 or 7). Another rca started around the same time and they may put her on the route on my ps50. Am I getting the short end of this because I am catching on fast and doing well?

WHY ARE YOU TRAINING ON THE RT. IF ITS NOT YOUR PRIMARY..???? Any regular carrier can train you, especially if you are their sub ie: that is your sub of record rt.....
It doesnt sound normal, but hey, what is normal at the po!!???? Now the rt. you are going to....supposedly being harder, I wouldnt worry until you get on it. If you are picking it up fast, you'll likely be fine...way more stops just means you can sling it, and fling it out faster...lol!! I've worked rural rts, and left out with a tray and a half pulled down, and 5 hours later, still had a half tray left, where I left with 6 trays pulled down, and was done at 1:30....more stops isnt always bad.
Pm is supposed to assign you your rt. Trainer has no say really....I wouldnt overthink it, and I wouldnt rock the boat over it either. You can always transfer your sub of record later if you find a rt. in office that doesnt hsve a sub on it, which is, in these times, pretty common. If you are good at this, you will have regs wooing you to come be their sub....trust me...Best of luck my friend...🤠

Agree it makes zero sense to me how only one regular is training all the subs and only on that trainers route (who already has a long time sub!). She had just casually mentioned to me that she was speaking with the postmaster and the PM thought I would be on route x and I didn't know if I had to be on the route on the form. I guess not lol.

Management can, and will do whatever they want.

Your route is on the PS 50. The Postmaster can not arbitrarily change that assignment. You do have access to Union officials. Contact them.
There are contract restrictions as to working a route for 30 days and payments for the first 5 pay-periods that all come into effect as a new RCA.

keyser.soze1911 -- Might want to contact your Assistant District Representative.

-- Take a look at Article 9.2.I.1.+2.

Is it wise for me to do that while still on probation?
It all depends on the office, and the mgmt....also the kind of worker you are...you can at least contact the union, and tell them your issues, make them aware you are still in your 90 days, and see if they might just make a friendly little phone call to say HI to your mgmt while hinting around that if they want to keep you....THEY MIGHT NOT OUGHT TO DO SOMETHING AS STUPID AS THIS TO YOU!! 🤣😂😆😅🤠

That is for you to decide. Are you willing to take it all the way or not. Are you willing to face any consequences for asserting the few rights a sub has? So many possibilities that could come of it. Just to name a couple retaliation, termination you get the idea. Not trying to frighten you just want you to have the full picture.

Personal experience as a sub asserting my rights. I got the 💩 of the 💩 in all regards. Retaliation non stop, working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week. While other subs worked 8 hrs with only 3-5 days a week.

Agreed! They can and will make it harder for those who make the most waves.
