Does anyone know what this test is: Rural Carrier Cost Test?

The full title across the top of my email states: Statistical Programs Rural Carrier Cost Test Notification.

What would this kind of test be looking for....and why? What could result from the findings?

TeetsMcViddle -- "Does anyone know what this test is: Rural Carrier Cost Test?

-- Sounds like the old ODIS ( Origin Destination Information System ) Test.

-- Although others have posted that ODIS has been replaced by the SPM scans.

ODIS is also used to check proper postage, an old outdated waste.

I had one of these done on my route a few months ago. It does not affect your route or you. The PO is testing to see how long it takes for a specific piece of mail to go from point A to B to C, etc. This is also how they determine what the actual postage amounts should be. It may make you run a little late if you have to wait for mail/parcels (during mine Amazon was late getting to our office, so I got AUX help to make the dispatch time). Be sure to ask what mail you can work, usually they will bring your mail to you after they finish each section/tray/bundle.
