Good for you !!!!! Yeah, the instructions will come down from above to cut the route but you can also look at it this way...............................you WERE a 43K and pretty much , with a few exceptions, 43K is as low as they'll cut the route so you'll be doing LESS work for the same pay.
Yeah I'm just worried because they want to cut the part of my route with new growth. I was hoping to grow back to a 46K. Luckily, the area they are building is so big there are four routes for this one development so I'm sure I'll get pieces back.
Or, you can go for what's behind door number 2 and AFTER they cut you, do a DPS review and see what happens from there. If you come back overburdened , they'll cut you to a 43K AGAIN and you'll REALLY be doing less work for the same pay or depending upon how much DPS you got at count AND if whether you are P.O.V. or LLV, get some or all of the time back and stay below the cut threshold.
I was cut from a 44k to a 42k Can I file a grievance for having no formal count training offered on this count which was my first ever? There are things I'm sure I missed out on since my counters didn't know everything either. They were trained years ago and couldn't remember everything. When should I request a dps review? I had the lowest flats and packages last week and now it's an explosion
There is an aux route which was NOT counted but for various reasons the MAJOR growth was not inputed until recently, it was evaluated at about 5/hrs/day and shortly it will be almost 10/hrs/day, of course, it will be cut. The person responsible for this situation should be FIRED !
This was my first count as well. I made sure to come here and ask questions and called my DR several times to make sure I was getting credited correctly. Can’t file a grievance because I don’t think carriers get trained on count. It’s on you to do your research sadly.
You can request a dps review whenever. Of course you’re getting an explosion, after the count!

not everything sinks in until it occurs atleast for me
I heard other carriers got to go to count school in the past It wasnt offered to me
How can they base your pay off of how well you understand and know the rules of the count and not teach you how it works?
I know I discovered atleast 3 things my counter didnt know. makes me wonder how much more was missed.
District came back saying i took too long on my edit book and my riffling. if they already decided how long it should take me whats the point of timing it?
i will submit a dps quantity review tomorrow hopefully it will help

I swear this job makes me feel so stupid and uninformed I read about this job on the forums every day, I read the magazines and for every 1 thing I learn there are 4 things I needed to know that I find out too late

My District said the same thing they would not agree that I took 13 minutes one time and 16 minutes the next. Me and the PM agreed to cut to 8 and ten and then we added in minutes for a few other things so I only lost like a minute.
He was watching me and actually agreed with me over district, so we just worked around them. His cooperation really surprised me.

I could not find any virtual ones, I even asked my ADR and just got crickets. I think like Huntress, the Union abandoned the people that were counting in this special count in a big way!!
I dont bad mouth the union much, but that was wrong on thier part.

Huntress and w2e2w2e -----The Postal Service got into a bit of trouble a few years ago regarding the EXACT things you are mentioning. There ended up being a cash award to carriers because of their shenanigans. I don't know how long you two have been around but when they refer to columns J , Q , and R , ; that was at the time these categories : J was mark ups, Q was loading and R was other suitable allowance.
I went from high 43 on sector segment (52:11) to low 42 on DPS (49:52). They screwed me by cutting me before count after I had failed a DPS review that bumped me to a 47. If they had just left me alone, I would have ended up around a 44 naturally, but they know best.
Now I’m debating whether to invoke the step 4 from January that says they have to rebuild me to a 43. My district rep says I should, and I want to just to be a pain in the ass, but since I only lost an hour of pay, I’m debating just riding it out. I’ve got a few more days to decide.

My pm was told by district atleast 5 times it should only take 15-20 seconds to riffle and I should find any errors while delivering. They completely disregarded the directive that finding mhs errors is done during the riffling process
it took me about 2.5 minutes a day to riffle all the trays using the instructions word for word from the mail count guide
I only had 3 edit book times 1 was 6 minutes and the other 2 were 3 minutes each. I hadn't seen my edit book in 2 months so I don't feel it was excessive at all.
Also the 3m mark ups were not even an option on the markup sheet sent to us to use on the count
There was also no way to record the time I spent with pm for any package related issues on any given day
No one in my office ever counted anyone taking dps to the street before and they didn't know any of the rules for it and I know I lost out on things because of it. Especially the first 3 days when my learning curve was at it's worst
They didn't even know that the business closed mail can get counted as a package when delivering
But what really grinds my gears is that your pay is based on how well you know the rules pertaining to something you never did before with only a booklet that's open to interpretation to guide you

I haven't heard the final results of the count yet so I don't really know what's headed my way from district do they sent requests to edit?
