Jeez...reading the comments on there was painful. This is what happens by not having a count in 5 years. Instead of losing hours gradually each year, they got blasted with one lump sum. There just isn't as much paper mail volume today compared to 2018

Also add the next step. ..
If counts were done, the carrier who lost in count could have added from an aux or overburdened rt to maintain the pay... the overburdeons would have cut and not delivered for free .

While I agree with you on the premise of less mail and no mail counts, it is also due to jacking up the standards so much too. When you go from 43 ppm to 86 ppm and whatever flats were to I think 70 ppm. You can't win. Less mail and crazy standards will kill routes.

I love seeing the carriers say well if you read the guide you would have done good or went up. NO NO AND NO. I did all scans I should have and guess what??? I lost 3 hours. Is that my fault? No.

peeps love to say volume is down... sure is FROM 1996.... u only go to the last mail count, at least rural does... my last count in 2018, thanks to manipulation and plain hiding, had less mail and packages than the mini count of spring 2023!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is 100%%%%%%% loss of pay for every mail box and delivering dps for free and a little bit of wrecks mistakes and omissions
anybody who says mail volume is down hates rural carriers or has not delivered mail ever ..or since 2010

More about the standards being Jacked up. There is not good standards anymore.

I did everything I could. I got slaughtered. 44k to a 44h. Just the standards are junk. All apartment routes got killed.

Yep, My rt always stayed near the same maybe up or down an hour. Not like this non-sense. Some rts didn't make any sense, they get more packages then I do (I get one they get two hampers per day), and they came back worse then I did 35H? How is that even possible? Both of our rts are 3 apartment complex's, both are near 1200 customers, only difference is I have 60 houses, and about 40 business's. I'm certified heavy because they are doctor/lawyer offices. But her route get twice the packages I do.

Something is not right and it's all messed up.

Pretty much. When you go from 20-30 minutes week to verify DPS to 10-15, it kills a route easy.

I think that every time I get a heavy day of DPS.... I know I'm working for free on most of it....

Yeah that’s why I no longer worry on lite dps days because I’m getting paid peanuts anyway even if it was heavy. It counts for so little. A couple of extra door parcels will negate the difference.

For most suburban routes not one bit, for true rural routes it can be a wash small gain or lose. As the crow flies many of the houses are 200 feet from mailbox, the driveway can be 1/4 mile or longer. It’s a killer on apartment routes with multiple floors.

2018 w/Amazon, parcel credit = 330 minutes
2023 w/Amazon, parcel credits = over 800 minutes ( 11 more daily average parcel count)

Lol, that's quite the statement. I'm in the same boat as @PastOThirty and many more, dps is definitely down from 2018. Flats? What flats!!! I'd come in day after a holiday in 2018 & I'd have stacks on stacks on stacks. Now? About 1/2 ear. Between this forum & Reddit, this seems to be the norm. And yet ppl are confused why they dropped so much

Yeah, the high rise cbu routes out here got hammered. Most are barely H but, plenty of parcels. Just no walking or mail credits. And coverage got hosed on those rts. Most less than 50%. Rrecs isn't a good fit for those math parameters. Nothing a carrier could do.
