I still think many problems with the union could be resolved simply with term limits. No one wants to give up cushy guaranteed paycheck with mileage compensation. And being able to bank and pay out annual and sick because you are never too sick to work from zoom.

What's the backup plan? Hope Teamsters represents us? Nothing official has been stated that teamsters will represent us from Teamsters if the NRLCA is actually decertified AND they have told us in the past that they do NOT want to represent us. You have no back up plan and are just accepting what a single angry individual who managed to get a decently sized petition against the NRLCA going says and THAT is concerning. If we have no union at all we will be steamrolled by the USPS out of the little scraps of benefits we have left. I don't like our union and it's actions, but I'm not going to vote to decertify it when there is no plan in place after it is decertified.

Read article by Jory Heckman on Federal News Network from yesterday. It explains the issue wit our union and teamsters!

It isn't a single angry individual. It's thousands of us. And it's not vote to decertify and it's gone, it's a long process and we get to consider options along the way. Also I keep seeing people say that teamsters don't want us, where did they say this? In writing? Or is it just he said/she said?

Alright but what's the plan? You all want to get rid of the NRLCA but have no plan. What're you going to do when the reality train rolls through and teamsters tells us to pound sand? Is there another union willing to take us on? The City is pissed at NALC, APWU is not in a much better state. Is there a group of rural carriers trying to form a new union?

Actually, you might be on to something and got me thinking. While this initial effort is just but one step in the process, say a decertification vote occurs and the effort prevails. What that means is that the NRLCA and those in office as we know it / them are done. All new people could just assume the positions. And I mean all new people, too. The custodian who has been working at Duke St. forever..................gone. No more of the same people for decades dodging their routes and just shuffling positions on the board just to give the illusion of change.

All we know is that "the gods must be angry" and we need a sacrifice. We have fallen for every story given to us about how to save the Postal Service. They all depended on stripping us of our protections and rights. Still nothing came through.

We know UPS got a better deal but we have no interest in finding out how to get a better deal for ourselves. We just want the same deal.

Perhaps the NRLCA leadership positions will be replaced but a large amount of people will be the same. This is simply because this is what these people are.

NLRCA Annual dues are 790 a year roughly and the Teamsters dues are 1260 a year. How many of these people will pay that?

The vote to decertify is only the first step in the process. Members haven't been too impressed with the union for a long time. RRECS was the straw that broke the camel's back. At minimum, enough votes to start the process might force union leadership to realize they need to start doing their job or their days are numbered.

The ability to strike is what got them their deal. Without that ability no union will be able to make things better. That’s the only leverage we would have against USPS.
