What would you like to see change in the new contract?

Under RRECS you have to work new stuff for a year before being paid for it.... then when you work it for a year, and they decide to cut a route, then BOOM.... $$$$ money is gone.... why not just let the following mail counts and volumes dictate salary declines, just like we have to do for increases???? Seems like that'd be more fair.... is fair too much to hope for???? 🤷‍♂️👉

What are some things you would change with the new contract? It can be whatever you think or new things in contract.
1. RCAs automatic conversion to career status after 2 yrs regardless of whether or not your office qualifies for a PTF position.

2. Premium pay (whether time & half or an bump in pay ie. additional $5/hr) for RCAS/PTFs working on Sundays/Holidays.

3. RCAs assigned to a AUX route not required to work Sundays/Holidays unless voluntary.

4. Automatic penalty pay for any reason a paycheck wasn’t received. There should be zero reasons for not receiving a paycheck on time for hours worked. And when you do not receive a paycheck. The PO should be held responsible financially & it is very difficult to track if your pay was input properly on an adjustment since it does not break down the pay

Well this is my personal wishlist/pipe dream.

-Removal of table 2 (everyone on 1)
-Overall 15-20% pay increase for ALL carriers. Regardless of full or part time status (yea I know that's a pipe dream).
-Removal of 10 year career work requirement to become a J route if carrier chooses.
-Peak season includes the first full pay period including Black Friday.
- RCAs receive extra pay for Sunday and day after holidays.
-Time and a half penalty for having to do second trip
-Buy back sub time (that's technically an act of Congress)
-Hours worked over a 48k become automatic penalty overtime or is paid as time and a half regardless of time of year.
-O time must be tracked via official form or logged.. possible addition to rrecs program

Penalty should start at 150% pay and go up. I wouldn't turn down 200% pay for bad scheduling.

Cancel the Sunday/Holiday parcel delivery MOU. One of the worst decisions ever made regarding Leave Replacement retention. Give EVERYBODY Sunday's and Federal Holidays off. Most RCA's trying to make a career out of this place would stay. They can almost always find hours during the week covering leave. No office should have Sunday/Holiday parcel delivery unless they can hire and retain ARC's.

I was an RCA for almost 21yrs.

10 of which I worked 6 days a week (the last 3 I worked 7 days a week). would benefit greatly from this. If you haven’t already written your senators. It being re-proposed to congress, 69 representatives have signed on 4 months in. It took over a year to get that many the last go.

Get writing! Make this happen! Call, email, send letters! Make your voice heard! It can’t happen unless passed by the house.

H.R.5995 - Federal Retirement Fairness Act
What surprises me is that only 23 states & the DC has cosponsored the bill, Where are the rest of you?

That would make Mondays AWFUL in Amazon offices, but it would boost evals and retain RCAs

1st Demand, I'd also like to see them eliminate the ARC position. It was a redundant position when there are so many RCA positions still available. Hiring priority should always be career first, that means PTF when applicable.

2nd Demand, Eliminate Table 2. It needs to happen now or never.

3rd Demand, would be a system to cut routes in the Contract. It's beyond ridiculous that this mythical AI route adjustment system was delayed indefinitely leaving offices without a way to balance routes.

4th Demand, would be a way to reassign GOV to POV offices that want them. My office can't facilitate the new Platypus vans and I'd gladly go POV just to get out of the deathtraps we have now. We don't have VMF within 250 miles and there's no reason we should have to drive GOV.

I'm just waiting to see how badly NALC gets clapped at Arbitration.

I actually think the opposite. Do they even make an attempt to hire ARC's? Ours was hired many years ago when it was first created. He wants this position and would quit if he had to be an RCA. His working Sunday saves someone else from having to do it who doesn't want to. Retiree's etc... may just want that kind of work and our RCA's welcome them.

That's definitely one I forgot and should be added. Black Friday is start of the shopping season. So why do we not start that Saturday as Christmas time. Makes zero sense.

I would like to see more checks and balances to our system. I think we are headed toward an issue similar to the British had in 2020 with their computer system running amok. If it does happen we have no place to turn to protect our selves.

What are some things you would change with the new contract? It can be whatever you think or new things in contract.

Here are 2 things I wish they would look into.

#1 X Days rules. Get rid of the 12 week crap rule. My district is cracking down on X days over 12 weeks. X day can be held on to for longer or something because lack of subs.

#2 Ability to take half day off. I think it is time to give us ability to take half day off for afternoon appt instead of taking the whole day off.
Get rid of the 65 day cap on vacation rollover, or allow us to cash out the overage as other crafts are able to do.

I would also like to see with every new route evaluation and every new route awarded, the ability to elect to be paid HOURLY, with the option for carriers revoke it with 2 weeks notice.

Also lower the table 2 step increase period to fall more in line with table 1, table 2 increases every 52 weeks, whereas table 1's increase periods shorten as years increase.

A first year table 1'er was paid over $8000 more per year than a first year table 2'er, even as the cost of living has increased.

In defence of those RCA's that only want to work Part time and not 7 days a week I think we need to keep the ARC positions so that they have a path to working a supplemental income position. If they already have a full time position they are working outside the USPS a couple days a week is all they want.

Bake COLA into the contract so that they are a "given" and continue even if new contract hasn't been ratified.
