Expectations for New Contract

When the next contract between the NRLCA and USPS is finally ratified what final changes do you expect to see? Improved salaries, benefits, rights, or working conditions?

Just curious since I recently watched a Rural Academy instructor making wild and baseless claims to new RCAs about what the new contract would guarantee so they would join the union.

Given that Rural contracts have lagged behind other postal union contracts and competitive shipping unions until this point I wondered if people believe they will step up and score big for their members this time around. Satirical responses welcomed as well.

Does anybody know what's going on with our Negotiations?
The NRLCA and USPS extended contract negotiations after the NRLCA's contract expired on May 20, 2024. The 2021-2024 National Agreement remains in effect while the negotiations continue.

This is what's going on at the APWU.
"The 2024 contract negotiations between the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) are underway, with the opening day on June 25, 2024. The Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on September 20, 2024."

NALC and management have been negotiating since Feb of 2023. Contract ended on May 20 of 2023.

In two days it will make three Unions without a Contract. I don't understand how the USPS can get away with this.

After forty years of watching our union sell us out, I expect them to roll over like a trained circus dog. I would expect nothing more. Better break out the Vaseline.
I'm not holding out for much. I do think a required mental health day or 3 would be awesome on administrative pay. I do anticipate some tweaks in office sharing, distances for relocation and bidding issues.

Unfortunately, nrlca lost a lot of ground with the volunteer regular mou. They could have gotten so much more. I'd be surprised if the pay increase is more than 4% for the contract. Hopefully, they retain the full cola time period from expiration.

There is discussion on the Hill about a new fers bill to increase required tsp participation to 7%. Doesn't seem to have much support, at the moment.

Based off of the stuff the NALC has said about their new contract, I think we’ll see a unified pay table and a semi noticeable raise. I’m somewhat worried about what they (and thus us) might give up for something like that.
How long have you worked for these scumbags. I’ve worked for them for forty years and I retired last year. At least I’ve been here long enough that they don’t make me bleed when they stick it to me. Also plenty of Vaseline helps. I told everyone at work, don’t tense up it won’t hurt quite as bad. If you have faith in this union, you need professional help. Just keep the Vaseline handy and don’t get your hopes up.

Anyone who believes the union is going to step up for you, definitely needs a mental health day.

4%???? That’s a joke
Even 4% per year for each year is a joke.
Guaranteed to be voted down and then go to arbitration if it’s only 4% for the 3 years.

Because some dumb ass took our power away with the no strike clause

Havent the previous raises been 1% and change, of course its a backpay situation, for whatever reason. What makes you think annual raises will increase drastically I agree its a joke. Good luck with whatever the result is 🍀🍺!

We couldn't afford are own Vaseline from all the pay cuts and inflation so our office on the rural side all chipped in and got a gallon jar to share. They supply gloves at our office, whew thank goodness!

All -- Expectation of the new contract?

-- To be 25% to 33% over with before it is ratified - like many of the past contracts.
If NALC is taking over a year and a half on their contract negotiations.... don't be surprised if NRLCA takes 2 or more.... js.... might be 66% over before it ever gets finalized.... set your expectations low, and then get ready for those not to be met... that's my best prediction and advice.... expect the worst, and then be prepared for it to be even more of a disappointment.... then think positive thoughts, like when it comes time for you to get the hail out, move as fast as you can so as to not let the door hit ya, where the Good Lord split ya.... but, pause just long enuf to bid those poor bastids left behind, a SEE YA, SURE AS HAIL WOULDN'T WANNA BE YA!!!!! This is the best I got for ya.... 🤷‍♂️👉(n):poop:🤚(y)😎🤩🥳
