Last 2 PMG have had conflict of interest and look where we are going. NOT GREAT
All -- 5 day delivery?
-- If stamps go up to 95 cents, probably 3 days will suffice for letter and flat mail delivery as more and more folks go to online bill paying as well as using ecards instead of real greeting cards! Use the other 3 days for parcel delivery!
-- Last Sunday, a postal LLV was in the neighborhood with packages on the tray platform that had the "smirk" on them.
-- At last count, the USPS had in excess of 40 Vice Presidents. Some must be the same as a city in South Dakota. Back in 2010, only 25 VPs!

I don't like being doom and gloom, but it's hard to find a positive at the moment.
Carriers are the hard workers and backbone of the PO and they are always the ones to get shafted while MGMT gets a pass and overlooked as being the issue.
Well, they do get to set the narrative with control of data.

With that in mind, do you know what would be a great idea? Let's sign ourselves up to have our pay determined by company controlled data that is associated with a constant tracking mechanism. We will help them monitor us by engaging with the tracker periodically throughout the day. Then we will negotiate to still be able to leave whenever the day is done; thus giving away analytics to a motivated workforce. The tracking mechanism will observe, log and allow them to analyze our shorter workday to give a baseline for performnce that could be used to reduce our future hours and wages.
Basically we all just said good bye to a worked relief day. We might loose the midweek relief day incentives. It just all depends on what exactly they do with this ability to only deliver 5 days. How will we be utilized? I still cant believe we agreed to be tracked. We are giving them all the info to squash us.
Kudos to them I guess.

5-day delivery is not happening.
If anyone actually watched the hearing, the PMG mentioned it to illustrate that usps either needs more money or needs to cut service. Nobody in the committee is interested in even entertaining the idea of 5 day. Any congressperson who even brings it up would lose their seat. It’s ridiculous to even be discussing it seriously here. The main reason is that boomers are still a huge voting block and they don’t want it. Its also bad optics for either party to push for 5 day mail.
Side note: I actually want 5 day mail with parcels only on Saturday and Sunday delivered by rca’s and arc’s. Make all regulars K routes.

I think most carriers and people with a brain could figure out how to save USPS millions easily. I have mentioned about area I live in. IF USPS IS THAT BAD OF SHAPE, close these smaller offices and cut management,
Main office and 4 RMPO. 3 of those RMPO are within 3 and change miles of each other in basically a straight drive (all of them are about 3 miles from main office). Other one is about 5-6 miles from main office. Main office is home to everything such as gas station, grocery, and bank. You literally have to go there for everything.
If you all 4 RMPO,
1 goes to rural route from another town (He drives right through that town)
1 goes to city
1 goes to either city or rural (rural goes to it, but city goes to edge of that town)
1 goes to myself as rural carrier.
You close just 3 of the 4, we figured it would save a MINIMUM 400k a year. If you close all 4, it would be closer to 550-600k.
Plenty of areas like this in USA.
Then cut management and GUESS WHAT?!?!?! WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE. Now can I get promotion????

A big problem with mngt is, they're constantly trying to figure out how to get rid of the people who actually do the work, carriers, clerks, etc.. and trying to ever expand on more mngt geeks that do NO work.. obviously, a recipe for bankruptcy... So, no big surprise... I heard something the other day that PMG Stoner is predicting bankruptcy by about September or October.. I think he's posturing for a bailout...

100% going for a bailout.
I'm just saying anyone with a brain knows where's the issue are. I mean if we need to save money that bad, close these smaller where you have to go to others town to get gas grocery and etc. Right there will save millions.
Simple solution but they won't do it.

These higher ups are constantly creating jobs for their kids or people they know. I think most post masters hire more supervisors just so they never have to do any work or even show up and still make 6 figures.

That’s actually how it’s done in Europe. 3 days a week delivery.Wth... Maybe just Monday, Wednesday and Friday....

As far as letters, it seldom matters if a day or 3 delay occurs.. and my mail is so flaky, I might see a picture of a letter in an email, and it not show up in my mailbox for a week or more later... So, wth... 3 days a week would meet my needs....

But.. by golly... When it comes to carriers... mngt demands, every piece everyday.... when it comes to mngt's delaying the mail, oh we don't have a carrier so let it sit for a few days or a week...
When I first started in the late 90's... standard practice was to skip the box as long as there was no 1st Class mail... piece of junk mail, they can wait until tomorrow.... and to me, that makes sense... makes delivery faster and less expensive... Which of course is why they don't do it that way now, and why they used to be profitable and now they're bankrupt.. go figure...
