I really thought it was going to happen in 2013. I disagree with you that it might happen in the near future, mainly because our govt can rarely agree to do anything that might make sense.

I'd put more faith in the current administration doing something as opposed to the one in 2013, and I'll just end my statement there, so as to not delve into the political realm....

! IMO, there is to much opposition to go to 5 day, & the 
’s in DC, cannot get anything done.

Many parts of Gov't are contracted out to private industry.. much or all of USPS functions could likely be contracted out.. we all know of current parts of USPS being contracted out, surely that could be expanded... this would still qualify as the Gov't providing a mail service, but in a more privatized manner... Who knows... Anything is possible...

There's lots of issues on the table right now... Price increases, 5 day delivery, bankruptcy, privatization, etc., etc ..Perhaps,
Here is the thing. I 100% agree that companies that ship in bulk or exclusively with USPS should get a little discount. But the discount shouldn't be to point it is pennies. It should be like 10-15% less not 33% (I don't know what the discount is for Ebay). Just right there would bring in millions more to USPS.
Instead we will raise price on stamp for the old lady to mail birthday card to grandkid and after that we will use that money saved to hire more management to watch these carriers.

Lol none of this will happen, and raising stamps is a negligible gain. When I first started in early 2019, we had 2 supervisors and a station manager. Sometimes the opening supervisor would even close, all on his own and things ran rather smoothly believe it or not. As I type this in 2026, we have a whopping EIGHT supervisors consisting of two 204B’s (somehow they’re never at work but always injured from being on the job?) the station manager and then 5 official supervisor. I would guess that the money we could save eliminating 5 of any of these would more than make up for any debt or financial losses my office is seeing, because besides keeping Wingstop in business I seriously could not tell you what they do that justifies being in the office let alone being PAID for it. If anything, having so many for a 50 route office makes things more complicated given that no one communicates, and somehow I always have to “go let someone else know” about any day to day issues that arise.
Just curious how many routes in office when you had 2 and now with 8 (just wondering RRECS changed anything)? Because USPS has nearly double the ratio of supervisors/management position that UPS or FedEx has.
More recent numbers said 2024 It was 1 supervisor to 7 carriers for USPS. 2014 it was 1 supervisor to 15 carriers.
I believe UPS and Fedex are closer to 1:15 ratio right now.
Also since I can't edit post, LOOK AT HIRING PROCESS!!!! No drug test and etc like the old days. Just hire whoever. I 100% BELIEVE THAT IS HOW USPS JUSTIFY ALL THESE SUPERVISORS!!!

Our last postmaster got a moving incentive of $35000. Im sorry but when you are applying for that postion and it gives the city and state where the postion is at shouldn't it be common sense to know that this is going to require you to MOVE! Keep in mind that the po that he was hired to be a pm at wasn't up to his "standard of living" so he bought a home 2 hours away from his job! Arrived at 9 and gone by 4..some days he worked from home..this seems like an unnecessary expense..this is the job and this is where its located interested or not..not then next!

We gained a total of 5 new routes with 1 being an AUX from 2019 to today. The only other gain was the sharp increase in Amazon but somehow have not gained more clerks because of this, just more people to make excuses for them or throw them pizza parties while everyone else is on the street

I can see the USPS trying again to go to 5 day a week delivery. RRECS has been conditioning customers to expect letter mail less often for awhile now. I've been getting mail 3-4 days a week. Most of it on Monday. Local newspaper on Thursday. Letter mail on Friday. Toss up on Saturday.
Of course, they'll still deliver parcels 7 days a week. Saturdays will be like Sundays now. ARCs, RCAs and PTFs delivering parcels. I can't imagine this really saving any money at all. It's all just theater.

I remember 2013/14 PO was thinking 5 day delivery because of financial dire straights.Wth... Maybe just Monday, Wednesday and Friday....
Then Boom 7 days a week for Amazon.
It was before they delivered "all over." They used the PO to subsidize their business tax free, built up their delivery network and then look the other way now 2026.
So, to me the answer is what does amazon want us to do? If they want the PO to work Saturdays/Sundays we will.
Does anyone expect the higher ups at the PO to actually fix anything in the best interest of the PO when the lead guy PMG undoubtably has a vested interest in FED EX?
Excuse my cynicism, but when all the talk is reducing worker hours/pay and such when the bloat is at the top and we can all see it. Billions on useless programs and such.
I'll believe it when I see it.
The higher ups aren't going to fire themselves lol.
