Manglement pushing too hard.

Wdopgal, there are many contract infractions in the things you mentioned above, each one you could grieve. If you are ever "asked" to go into the manager's office you need to say, "If this conversation is, or can lead to discipline, I want my union steward present."
In this way if the conversation continues you can receive no discipline. Whenever you are told to work a route under the evaluation on a heavy day tell them it is not possible. If you curb your wheels, pull the brake, take off your seat belt , take the key, get your scanner, get and carry a 50 lbs. dog food box up to the door and return to your vehicle, you spend much more than the 10 seconds your evaluation allotted or pays you. Do they want you to work UNSAFELY? There are many examples of how your managers are managing incorrectly, like the one Deer Smearer listed above, print out each one from this site and post them on the bulletin board, or your case. Let them know, that you know they are wrong. Call your district rep. (you obviously have no local steward) and explain the mess to them, and that you are ready to fight to keep sanity in your office and to keep the good Rca's that are ready to quit because of how they are being treated.
they will say that the extra time was factored in during the last mail count.....whenever that was....

As much as I hate to say it... it'll never be any better than it is right now... all of the better times are in the rearview mirror now... we're on the slippery slope, and already well down it, there's no going back up now....

Those that can jump ship... the sooner the better... those that have to stay for the long haul... sure hate it for ya... ?
I hear you. just biding my time. Waiting for a full time gig......then they can't say a damn thing.

I say to them, do it yourself stupid idiots! (don't say just think the last part ;-) Also, don't let manglement and stupidwisers get to you.. they are under pressure by even more stupid (wisers). Looks like they are giving you unfair treatment. I advise you and the other RCA's to keep on trucking along. Do your thing, be safe and enjoy your day regardless of what they tell you. They are not going to fire you or the others as long as you are accurate and put in a good days worth of work. Their threats are baseless, without you and the others they are in way more trouble, so stick it out and let them bark all they want (maybe use some pepper spray if needed LOL). Do make sure you get paid for all your work though.
ya, if I just didn't answer the phone I would have much less stress.

I wouldn't work there. If I did, I'd quit or transfer as soon as found out about the situation. Churn and burn only works if there are enough "would be" RCA's standing in line waiting to get whipped.. Not sure where you live, but that stuff doesn't work around here in the Midwest. Besides, it cost much more to get an RCA trained than to retain good ones willing to stay.
I hear you. I am an RCA on steroids.....a PTF.......so I am now career and earning benefits. I literally upended my life for this position as I was not going to get full time for another 10 years or so where I was. So I sold my house, moved to another state, just closing on a new house......there is nowhere to transfer to as a PTF right now.

Wsopgal et al -- "I have been at my office for just a few months. Manglement insists that we be back by evaluated time....even on a Monday with 2 sets of boxholders/circulars and 195 packages and spurs, 5 certs and 2 express."

-- Time to drag out the paper work for the latest count, especially the Form 4241 ( Rural Delivery Statistics Report ).

-- Should be easy to point out to manglement the daily average of letters, flats, box holders, and PARCELS.

-- Politely request manglement compare what you have for the day as compared to the count averages.

-- Politely ( or otherwise ) remind manglement the evaluation is based on the count data, not what the number of items the route got today.

-- You could throw in a: "It takes what it takes to run the route SAFELY." or "I'll be back when I get back." and "Have a nice day ( go bother someone else! )
indeed.

I grieved the snot out of my PM for all these issues.

As many above has stated all infractions of the national agreement. I will say this:

Grieve it all and then some. I no longer have to use my phone, call anyone, answer anyone. No more exact times, i repeat my evaluted times, add an hour at the end or more if i feel slow. I take my breaks, full 35 on heavy days cause why not? No scanner abuse.

Am i a target on my 14 day suspension going on fired? Hell Yeah! But im not going to be a labor camp prisoner for this pos organization. I try to make management follow the rules just like i have too. Ill get fired for it, but at least i have a clean concious.

You are all being abused. Subs who want to quit might want to shoot an Email to PMG to
tell her of these horrible tactics. (She has said she knows supervisors are not treating
non-career employees properly.)
Maybe supervisor(s) will get some non-union education.

I think our PMG needs to do an episode of Undercover boss in the OP's office maybe that would get something done with this sub shortage. Hell who am I kidding it wouldn't do a thing.

Our manglement actually says..."I don't undersstand why you cant get it done by 6."
[/QUOTE

Probably never delivered mail, or if they did, nothing like the amount of work you do now.
(35 years ago, the mail and parcels for the 48k route I subbed on could fit in a 3 foot by 4 foot hamper that was 3 feet tall, with room to spare.)

We had a supervisor 30 years ago who used to insist, "The more mail you have, the faster you go!"

Tell them if they give you the same amount of mail you got during the last count, you can make evaluation.

Say if they add part of another route, that will take longer. (Gee, if you could magically do all this work without it taking more time, couldn't you just stay home and let them mail your checks to you? Then someone could deliver them, and that wouldn't take them any time either!)

It's a weekly evaluation, not a daily one.

They are responsible to manage the amount of mail you get, you are not required to bend time and space.

They are responsible to hire a full compliment of subs.

They are total failures, yet they're whipping you. (That frosts my toasties!!!)

I did finally request a magician for when they give us half of another route on top of our regular....... thus far, no magician has arrived.

And so it has begun......lost 1 sub because of the pressure. Another one about to leave, and another transferring. Leaves me and 1 sub for 10 routes. Our people call out a lot....and apparently there are no regulars willing to volunteer to lighten the load. It is fixing to get ugly for this station. Gonna have to carry 3 routes a day. Bahahahahaha

So what is your plan?
