What would you change about the LLV

WarrenSensi et al -- "Tray feeding system to feed fresh trays directly to the table for you from the back.."

-- That was actually attempted many years ago.

-- The main problem: the sliding system took up too much space. ( used to have a couple of pictures of it )
I'd love to see that, if you can find those pics.
The only thing I've found is a roller and giant drawer system that some city carriers got once upon a time that is very much designed for rear access and not not front access.

I've been noodling since I started on a DIY-level system that wouldn't take up stupid amounts of space and would fold away under the left-side shelf as needed and would still allow easy access to the rear from the front (or, as easy as it is now...), and I'd like to not reinvent the wheel.

Sound deadening probably to deal with just one of many things that regularly breaks osha rules. Better suspension so being forced to use one on backroads doesn’t kill you after 50 miles of washboards.

WarrenSensi -- "I'd love to see that [ LLV roller loading system ], if you can find those pics."

-- Google "LLV roller system". First "hit".

-- Not the picture I had earlier, but similar. Possibly what you have already seen.

-- Must be a city carrier LLV because of all the yellow trays.

I would like better tires in the winter. I would like better heat in winter. Maybe air conditioner in summer or a better flow of air in summer. I also would like something to cover up the stairs on the other side. I hate when a parcel falls there you can't find when you need it.

I used to pile my extra DPS on that stair when I was on a route that usually got 7-12 trays.

Yeah, that's the overly complicated and expensive thing that only a few thousand city carriers got. The bottom part rolls out of the rear like a giant drawer.

What i've got in my head (and need to get into SketchUp) is only as wide as 1 waffle tray length or maybe 2 waffle tray widths, dropping to one waffle tray width at the passthrough door, and is basically just a wire shelf with a 2" lip on the inner side, and some ropes to pull trays forward. Like, $300, $400 max for the prototype, possibly twice that if I decide it needs to be one of the fancier ideas (like two levels with the upper level being able to shift down when the lower level is empty, or a truly insane three level "rollercoaster" track like thing that I don't think I could ever make both functional and cheap...)

What if it was a springloaded box under the tray?. 2 trays stowed under the top one and the next one pops up.

I considered that, but rejected it because I think I want to retain the space underneath for oversize parcels and maybe empty trays. Though I have an idea for storing empties in the left side step.
There is a more reasonable two-shelf version of this idea, where they're both fixed (though still foldable), but the upper level is accessed as-is, half-standing to access things up there.

I'm singing on to a new office (unless UPS snipes me by finishing their also-lengthy onboarding process first), so I might be giving a prototype after the winter holidays, if I can get permission from the PM at that time (and the route regular...) I'm waiting until I've experienced the reported-horror of that season's demands, so that I'm sure my system can actually work under those extremes.

I hear you, but that space isn't the best. Depending on which tray structure you get, it can be hard to stow things under there.

One of the many reasons I need to take this whole idea into SketchUp! I need to play with the dimensions and mechanics, and SEE instead of IMAGINE. The brain is untrustworthy. Dimensions are unforgiving.
