someone in my office has a tuesday K day. yesterday (monday) this person was told to come in today (tuesday), but was never put on the schedule, and is not coming in.

isn't there some kind of rule that they cannot do this and have to give you a 3 day advance notice if they need you???

i'm sure they will try some kind of discipline. I want to try to help fight it and just need to know where to look

Checked the latest posted schedule when I got to work. Dated the 21st and person listed as K day.

I think we win this one

-- Hopefully someone took a picture of the schedule for future reference.

From what I've read the 3 day notice doesn't apply. Is the carrier on the RDWL? If so, I think the union stance is they can call you the morning of and make you come in.

Actually I think he Union's stance is that management can pretty much do whatever they want in regards to scheduling a carrier on their relief day.

Good luck.

True...true lol

It's fight able on the local level. Q4: what is reasonable notice?

During deposition of the PM, you must bait them into answering what reasonable notice is. How long is the notice for psform 3757-z? How long is the notice for 3849 items? Is 12 hours reasonable to submit leave? How much notice would you like? <--This one get a settlement on. Any carrier in the office that wants attend a local, state, regional, national or steward training meeting can now give 12 hour notice if that's the precedent.

I think the union's stance is they can tell you and you must obey anything they tell you except maybe walking out in front of a train, even then, I don't think the union would do anything.

"Just go ahead and walk out in front of the train and we'll grieve it later".

The contact states a reasonable advance notice.. for me a day before is not enough time for me. So I would say I'm not available

Not on RDWL. I don’t think telling you as you are leaving for the day that you need to work tomorrow is “reasonable”

This doesn’t actually speak to notification of working the Relief Day. ”Reasonable advance notice” speaks to change of Start Time through to End of Tour that are the times listed on your 4240. Receipt of mail, Eval, and “other related service” has nothing to do with working a Relief Day.
Mgmt can call any carrier in on the day needed just as long as the Order of Consideration is followed. As I tell the subs, if you don’t want to work, don’t answer the phone.
