I wanted to ask everyone here, when you measure all your distances in the office , does your postmaster give all carriers the same amount of to each carrier , as in , everyone gets 3 trips to retrieve your DPS mail , 4 trips back and forth to load , check llv and end of the day , emptying your llv ????
Thank you !

DPS measurement should be 1 trip with a conveyance.

Load trips are a daily timed with the scanner so no measuring.

Morning Govt vehicle inspection is 1 trip. PM would be part of End of Shift which is timed with the scanner.

Emptying your LLV is also part of End of Shift Duties so no measurements.

There is a specific document that mgmt MUST use that dictates the measurements required & carriers must sign this document after measuring WITH mgmt.

I wasnt aware load trips were timed with scanner-sometimes I have 4-5 trips back and forth with all the packages...I honestly do not carry my scanner with me at all times while loading. Thank you and will try and remember to have it. Most days its on my case and or in my vehicle until I finish loading-I do hit start load before loading. I am sure this has hurt me bc I honestly dont think I have ever carried it with me continuosly during loading back and forth trips-and I dont think noone in my office is aware of this either.

I don't think you necessarily need to carry your scanner the entire time you load... I think what @gotstamps is saying... is that you're NOT measured distance to load because you'll be loading in ACTUAL time under "STARTLOAD" & "ENDLOAD"

Going to get your dps starts out as one trip but should be multiplied based on the number of trips you take on average to retrieve your dps. Same with trips to the hotcase, etc.

We should be measured the number of trips we actually take during our work day. Not trips at our convenience, but mandated. Example, in our offices, our clerks require us to pull hot case twice during our casing, and once at departure, as the hot case boxes are full. We get trips to the hot case because management requires us to follow the clerks directive. This should hold true with all measurement categories listed on the sheet the union has provided.

I spoke with the union DR, got clarification on their "interpretation" and the above was what they'd agreed upon with the DSS who's in charge at District approving anything.

My PM was told in training not to argue with the carriers about measurements and to give them what they request. The amount of distance for an extra trip to the hot case isn't enough to have a grievance over so got everything without questioning it.

Well our pm told us today that we get one trip only to gather flats letters etc and she will look into dps trips but we will only get one trip after last call. That's it doesn't matter what we've done for years. So consider your offices lucky. I'm glad for you.

That's another problem they expect everything to be able to be the same in all offices but the pm's cant even be consistent.

DPS is one Trip Only!! You get the distance from where you stand to case mail to the nearest conveyance whether it be a hamper or a cart then to the DPS cage and return.. you do not get credit to make multiple trips.. even though those of us that case DPS go grab one or two trays at a time..

And you're not under loading time while you do this???
I guess some offices are just going to be given a lot of things others aren't....
Mgmt had a form they followed, with explanation of what to measure, an empty box to enter in the measurement taken, and then (we were told) that info gets entered in the computer. Yes overall consistency is horrible with so many issues, but I'm surprised as all RRECS info/times are supposed to be set in stone for all.
