EOS time

I click return to delivery unit on my scanner when I first pull in the post office.... I then unload everything and the time I put on my time sheet is after I walk into the door. Should I be putting the time I pull into my parking spot instead on my time sheet? I don't want to be losing EOS time if management is going off the time sheet(or changing rreccs scans) instead of the rreccs scans. We used to have to provide a reason if our end office time was over 10 minutes so I always put down less then that.

It takes what it takes regardless of what management says. I’ve taken 2 hours on my edit book work in the end of day service time.
It would be fine to sign in on the time sheet (4240) when you get near it, otherwise you would have to make a trip in to sign in at your case when you arrive and go back out to finish unloading scanning prepaid pick ups etc. If that is what your manager wants, do it because you’re getting paid the time for it.

Hitting "J" is return to delivery unit. So I do write that time down on my sheet. There is no limit to EOS time. I suppose they could go after time wasting practices.

Exactly. Most of the time it should be about the same amount of time, but there will be times it can be an hour or two as you said if you update edit book, do the labels, or something like that.

I think as long as it is regularly reasonable, most won't say anything. If you are doing an hour every single day, that will probably get flagged (Unless you have package pick up that fills LLV or something). If you do 10 minutes a day, and then every few months have an hour or two for updating edit book and doing the labels.

mine is between 20 - 30 every day.
park
turn off vehicle
J
unlock 2 doors
use bathroom
get buggy
back out through 2 doors
gather up empty equipment
place in buggy
gather mail which came out of DPS and outgoing
back through 2 doors
unload all
replace empty equipment
divide out mail
disperse mail
lock vestibule door
lock up arrow key and undelivered acccountables
L

takes the sub 5 minutes. go figure.

45 - 60 if packing up hold mail for next day, edit book, whatever.

So you write down the time on your sheet when you pull in and hit “j” correct? I was hitting “J” then unloading everything first then putting the time I walked through the door down on my sheet

This is what I do: Turn off ignition, set E-brake, secure vehicle, hit J (I take note of the time when I hit J), retrieve hamper to use while unloading, unload. I mark the noted time on the 4240 when I’m back at my case. EOS is generally 12-15 minutes for me. I cant’t really seem to stretch it beyond that (I have tried!). Here’s the explanation from the Q&A, FWIW.

Selecting J (RETURN2DU) starts the End-of-Shift duties time, which is then recorded on your Trip Report (time sheet). Your manager is incorrect about the 10-minute limit. Contact your union rep.

t is interesting to see your post because I always bring my gurney back inside after loading in the AM because I am tired at end of day and don’t want to push gurney inside you just made me realize I should push gurney back inside at EOS time … thanks

I always hit return to du when I get ready to back into a parking spot to start unloading. As I come to stop, hit return, remember the time (write that on time sheet) put truck in reverse, park, and start unloading…. I’m usually done in 10 minutes, but have also been on eod for up to 2 hours doing edit book/relabeling/forward stickers etc. I just write in comments what I was doing to be there longer than normal.

we have been told by our pm, to now do everything at eod. Our office has a large number of amish , who basicaly have no way to the po (2-3 hour horse and buggy ride), so we do the packages for them. We used to do them the next morning when the counter first opened up, but we now do it all at the end of day….

end of day, takes what it takes. Don’t fall for the 10 minute limit.
just like delivering/casing mail: it takes what it takes.

there were several little things they didn't want to give credit for so i found a nice little place for them either in loading or EOS. really no need to get upset bc luckily, we have those two places to get the credit for all we do!! Thanks for coming in.

Yes. I have 5 separate piles going in the truck that I organize the letters I take out of dps.
I guess I just need to get over it. why waste my time doing something I dont get credit for. For some reason it freaks me out, but tomorrow I will force myself do one pile. Eeek!
Very hard to break this habit. I have all mail sorted in separate bundles as I work. No longer. My OCD is freaking out 🙃🤪
