This (cashing out leave) would be difficult to get with USPS financial status being as bad as it is, but the NRLCA could add this to our next contract negotiations.
Actually, some craft peeps can do it under certain circumstances now.... clerks for instance, not sure of all the details tho..... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘‰(y)🧐

Some here might try to act like that's a lot.... but wth.... we earn 13 a year.... so, 15 is not extreme.... I have WELL over 100 days on the books.... I certainly didn't accrue that much by abusing the system or committing any sort of fraud.... js.... there are whackos out there.... :unsure:πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘‰(y)🧐
The funny thing is if I didn't used them it would have added maybe enough to my Annuity to buy a Donut once a month a to go along with my Senior Citizen Coffee. But by using my sick days it may have lengthened my life for not getting that Donut.

I've got enuf to add 5 or 6 months to my service time.... and maybe I'll end up settling for that if I can't come up with a way to use some of it.... I'll have to keep that donut factor in mind tho.... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘‰πŸ©πŸ§πŸ°🀣

What that will give you if you want to guestimate your return on sick time its easy math. If you have 30 years in working for the USPS (360 months) & can be credited for 6 additional months service time.

Then it's adding 6/366= .0164% to your monthly Annuity. Or a per sick day return of .000655737%. Or 6 1/2 cents per Hundred Dollars, per month.

Or try to cash it in (use it) now for Step/Table per day amount. 6 months K40 Table one that's $278.70 per sick day cashed in. Now 6 months (150 days) would be about $41805. So tell me how many years would you have to live to regain the return should you just have it added to your Service Time.

It's a no brainer to cash in as much as you can!

If my maths is fuzzy, maybe it's because of the cocktails being consumed. Bottom line use what you can before retirement.

Bingo....... I said it earlier they screw up over majorly on the SL on retirement. Was just too lazy to do the math.

You would have to live long time to break even. Better to use than not use.

I've only been seeing one side of this conversation but, I must say - someone seems like a mgmt move is in their future. If not already.

It's hard to prove fraud on an employee benefit which they earned. Owcp is another issue. However, simple sick leave is at the discretion of employee to use or bank.

Other than it is wise to build a cushion of banked time for unforseen events, I'm rather boggled why any coworker would care what someone does with their leave. That's like asking how much is in your bank...none of their beeswax.

That's what usps does to employees. It makes them so crazy and hostile towards each other, they forget whom is actually causing the abusive environment. Hint: it's not the crafts.

That's my thinking as well.... it would have to be something WAY out of the ordinary for me to argue against a carrier being able to use benefits they have EARNED.... but here we have somebody who claims to be a rural carrier, trying to say using your SL, or FMLA, or EAP is somehow a fraud conspiracy???? WTF.... that's just nuts..... LOL.... he even made some sorta claim that the OIG would swoop in and close down this entire site.... wth.... I think he should use some EAP for his mental health.... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘‰o_O(n):poop::ROFLMAO:

A regular carrier in my office was just approved for FMLA leave through HRSSC. They are not at all eligible and misrepresented their situation to their doctor. My postmaster knew this and told them to file it anyway. Normally, I would not care. But this person is the first (and loudest) to complain about anything in the office and is now openly bragging to other employees how they β€œgot out of being a Christmas slave”, telling everyone to have fun freezing in the dark for Amazon, sucks to be us, and just generally being a jerk about all of this. Who do I contact to report this fraud? Is OIG the phone call to make? Or is this a complaint for Dept of Labor?

If you believe it to be fraud, you have an ethics duty to report. But, TREAD VERY CAREFULLY, repercussion could be ugly.
And FMLA is not necessarily OWCP. Different programs.
You may read about the circumstances they investigate here:

So how did this negatively impact you?

So how did this negatively impact you?
It has nothing to do with me. The entire conversation started because he was bu\\-hurt again about getting a thumbs down.
If the thumbs down is a feature that people aren’t capable of accepting and it makes them triggered, then remove the feature.
