Counting down the days. I don't think I can make it.

As of Monday December 8th, I have 172 days until May 29th. Breaking it down even further, I have 130 working days. Breaking it down even further, I have to have surgery soon and that will take around 45 days so that leaves me with 85 working days. Breaking it down one more time, I will use about ten annual days next year. That leave me with around 75 working days left. Here's the problem, I really don't know if I can make it or not.

#1 How much leave do you on the table? Burn all of it. Don't hold on to the sick.

It sucks, but you can do this and will. To make it easier on yourself, just let it happen - don't talk about it, write about it, and most of all, quit entertaining negative thoughts with yourself about it.

I retired 2 1/2 years ago. I sent in my paperwork, went to the doctor and he put me off indefinitely. I burnt all my sick leave and half my vacation and never looked back. I was off sixty days prior to my retirement date. I spent forty years as a rural carrier and I felt like I had been paroled. Just hang in there it will be here before you know it,and when that day comes it’s amazing. Free at last . That’s when you will really start living.

I have been counting down for over five years, every single day of it. Hang in there. I know exactly how you feel, especially with Christmas. Three times in the last two weeks it was all I could do not to turn around and walk out. But the way I figure it, if you were to quit now, it would be like falling down ten feet from the finish line while running a marathon. Don't let that happen. 37 pay periods left for me! Leavin' at 60, with 32 yrs in, 27 reg. Remember that they only credit your sick days in 30 day increments.

Just knowing when you're out makes it far easier. A lot less they can do to you in the interim. Let it roll off your back. Find something to enjoy about each day. A good customer. A coworker whom you exchange knowing glances. Looking at your PM with eyes knowing he's an idiot and you're not....

I agree, just knowing when you are done its a load off your mind/body. I decided in June of 2021 that Xmas eve the same year, that I was done. A big relief ! Good luck !

I REALLY know you don't want to hear this but you should look at the difference of going at 60 and going at 62. I know you don't want to add 2 years but the difference is substantial.

10% but I don't care. I am not spending another dime on another vehicle for this outfit. Plus I see people every day in the obituaries that are in my age bracket. Example: $75,000 salary at age 60 vs $75,000 salary age 62 equals $3525 difference, or $67.79 a week.

Depends on a person's financial situation. I plan on working a different job, and forgoing any supplement.
If you go at 60 with more than 20 years you will get the supplement for the 2 years until you reach 62 even if you work elsewhere. Of course it is subject to the earnings test basically like SSA but if you aren't making a large amount of money you could still qualify and get something.
