Cancelling Annual Leave

If I cancel my annual do I need to fill out a 3971 stating that I'm available to work that day. I don't recall ever having to do that before.

It only happened a rare time or two, but that is what I did. I filled out a new 3971 requesting to cancel the leave, and wrote Im available to work my regular day. I round dated it, as well. (I round dated almost everything I ever documented. )
I took the canceled 3971 and the new 3971 and made a copy of them together for my records. I submitted the others to mgmt. I also wrote in the remarks on time sheet that I was available to work on that particular day, if it was on that scheduled week.
I was careful to not make a habit of that however. It was only due to using a lot of leave that year , for a family situation, that I had canceled some requests. I needed to conserve what I had in bank.

I know this isn't helpful but I would just be so happy to have an extra day off....I would let it ride and dance around my house all day.

I've never seen a rule that permits cancelation of previously approved leave, nor any procedure articulated in any manual to achieve that end.

We just wrote a letter saying we wanted it cancelled, they/po mgmt stapled it to the 3971, and put it in the file.

A 3971 would be appropriate to notify mgmt of the MODIFICATION of your previously requested Leave. Just mark the “Modify” box with the date that needs to be changed.

Wow. In my office it's very simple. I had to modify/cancel 2 leave requests just yesterday in fact. They went into the system, and changed it (as I watched). Easy peasy!!

Is there a 3971 version with a "modify" box? This is the latest version I've seen.

I thought it said modify but in this example it is the “revised schedule for (date)” box. Thanks for the example.
