Scannable ULines!

Just giving my fellow carriers a heads up. This week on my day off, ULines arrived; luckily, my relief curtails everything /s (including political!!!) ... anyway I noticed the ULines had a QR code to the left of the address. Sure enough you can scan it delivered to mailbox or wherever. Hopefully they keep coming like that because our district rep for years has been telling us "ULines are not parcels!"

Is the QR code a USPS delivery confirmation code? Did clerks scan AAU?

Infrequently U-Lines do have a bar code to scan AND are service requested.

Those you write about -- one was delivered to me with the QR code. I'll check it out on Monday....

Yes . I found out by accidents too . What happened is usually they are passed out to us by clerks to the case or in tubs along with flats etc . But one day due to clerk laziness or short staffing they ran the u lines in package machines along with all packages. So end of the day the u lines which got scanned in the machine showed on the scanner as not delivered at the time of clearance. I don’t know whether it will really go towards our credit or not but I intend to scan it at the time of delivery now onwards. No matter it was given to us through the machine or in the tub . I get them pretty often

A number came up but I didn't pay attention. No, clerks didn't scan it in.

Last month the restoration hardware came with a barcode but clerks didn't scan those in either, does that mean we didn't get credit for the scans?

The Restoration, because they had no AAU, the scan credit goes to the scanner and route upon which they're scanned, as they're not tied to a route. So if you scanned them, you get credit.

Our clerks didn't scan Ulines....

If it takes two hands to case, like a fat ULine, it is a parcel. I was told that years ago by my old union steward, so my advice is to put them in your scanner as an unscannable parcel.

I agree entirely. Unfortunately our manager 2 years ago threatened to write us up and the district rep said they would not back us so we gave up and just did all this free work. So hopefully these barcodes are legit and here to stay

The clerks can run them through the pass machine with that QR code to ease sorting, but if you check you will see you get nothing for them if you scan them as parcels with that code.
You are able to scan ANYTHING as an unscanable parcel, but our union caved on ANY catalog being a parcel after Rrecs started. So if you scan them as unscanable you are putting yourself out on a limb. Yet, I still scan them like that and delivered to the individual for good measure.

Pretty sure someone on here won a grievance on them being unscan parcel. iirc, they had to fight the union on it.

Question -- if there's no AAU, and a carrier scans the ULine upon delivery, they don't get any credit for delivery to door even if scanned as such? If so, what's the point of scanning them?

Do we have the ability to check parcels credited to rrecs now at the end of day? How do we do that?

I thought anything with a scan is a parcel under rrecs. Did that change?

I wondered if return receipt is classified as a parcel? There isnt a designation on the 4241 A or M for them. Are they a nothing burger?

YES you should be cleared when you get back at the end of the day and just ask your supervisor hoe many scan you had. this will give you the AAU for the day and the amount your getting credit for.
If its not in AAU you don't get credit.
BTW I SCANNED A ULINE TODAY AND ITS JUST LIKE SCANNING A LETTER BARCODE GIVES YOU 2-3 SECONDS FOR A SCAN --- NOT 30 SECONDS AS UNSCANNED PARCEL AND THATS WHAT IT IS.

Scan that Uline QR code look at what number it scans as, have your supervisor look up that number, it won't exist, I checked. If it doesn't exist we're not getting credit for it. You can also scan bar codes on some magazines, flats, and some letters, they also give us NO credit. Believe me, if anything would scan I would have tried it. Candy bar rapper bar codes, chip bags etc. don't count for anything. However, Ups, Fedx and DHL bar codes will scan if you click on "no other bar code" on that parcel. You can also scan other company's parcels that are left in you boxes as a pickup if you enter in that pickup has no bar code.
Return receipts are showing up as parcels because they are a scan. You should also scan them as a pick up parcel after you take them off the signed certifieds, or they are not put into the system until scanned at the plant. If questioned about it, say, "i do that for timeline transparency for my customers".
Again you can always check for any item you scan by looking up that bar code and seeing when and where it was scanned. You can ask your manager to look up your parcels at the end of the day on the radar report. You can see how many you delivered to the door, box, individual, etc.
On your scanner you can look under review entries and see how many items you scanned that day. That will include any load truck scans that don't count for anything, so you will have to subtract out any of those to get the number of parcels that you scanned that day. I checked those numbers everyday at the beginning of Rrecs until I was satisfied that it was accurate.
Aau only means that your clercks scanned it as that. If they miss it, we still get credit for that scan when we scan it. Check this out by scanning a parcel left in your customer's box when you can't fit another one in. Take both to the door and check those bar codes. Both will show as delivered to the door, even though only one received an AAU scan by your clerks that morning.

Ok. Thanks, I will check the odd scans to see if they exist. Weird it doesnt kick it into the "no other usps bar code" realm if its scanned twice.

I didnt know this was a catagory that was finally added to the report. I do my own count and now I can compare. Hope its accurate because I wouldnt know how to prove its wrong other than "it says vs I say"
