Sick leave: No pay for holiday

as an rca, the regular i worked for, used up a year and a half of sick leave, before he retired. he earned 26 more days of annual leave per year,, the 13 sick leave days per year, plus the holidays, while he was burning up the sick leave....extended his paid time off, by nearly 3 months.
Be nice if we could do that nowadays.... probably end up on restricted SL and all sorts of other nonsense now....

IDK, I've always understood that sick day before holiday and after holiday forfeits the holiday pay.... But study this and determine for yourself

Curious: How did he manage to use up this year and half of sick leave? Was FMLA involved? Isn't there the potential for discipline with a leave of that duration?

probably only legitimate case ever in the office, for being off that long. let me just say, this guy was a bit of an an alcoholic. he fell down a short flight of steps, inside his house (lived alone),broke his neck, and was found only when he didn't show up for work, and the maintenance man from the po found him. if it would have happened on friday night, rather than on a day where he was expected at work the following morning , he would not have made it. he had several vertebra fused , and has very little motion in his neck. and is still alive, as far as i know, know 15 years later.

I knew a guy who burnt up over a year of SL, but it was following a bad heart attack.... burnt up all of his AL & SL, then retired....

reading the attachment, it says a full time employee must be in a paid status, the day before , or after the holiday to be eligible for holiday pay . employees in leave without pay status - lwop - were not elgible
