I saw an Email today shown to me by OIC. No second trips in the guarantee period. They asked what do they expect from short coverage offices to do? (mine)

I replied Good luck with that. I guess they want you to work the few RCAS we have 12hrs per day until the end of the period.

Guarantee period or Christmas period?

During Christmas you can make second trips. There is just no additional compensation, only EMA if over 40 for the day.

What planet do these people live on? No second trips? Where are offices supposed to store all these packages? I thought we are in delivery, not storage.

LostinDakota et al -- "What planet do these people live on? No second trips? Where are offices supposed to store all these packages? I thought we are in delivery, not storage. "

-- The wording has been poorly stated.

-- As "deer smearer" noted 2nd, ( and even 3rd or 4th trips ) will be made during the Christmas No-Overtime Period.

-- From the NOV/DEC 2018 issue of the national magazine's Question Box section which addressed Christmas Pay Procedures for Rural Carriers.

- In part: Second Trips: An additional trip performed by a regular rural carrier or substitute rural carrier ( DES 72 ) during the Christmas period WILL NOT BE COMPENSABLE, this time WILL be included in the calculation for Christmas Overtime in accordance with Article 9.2.K of the National Agreement.

- Short version:

1) POV users will receive additional EMA for each mile OVER 40 miles for the day for the route and / or additional trips.
2) Leave Replacement is paid 2 minutes per mile plus loading time at the carrier's straight time rate when actual work hours do not exceed 40 hours. For work hours over 40, payment is a the carrier's overtime rate.

-- FWIW -- the 2019 edition should say the same thing.

@ Deer smearer... My edit because I sent from phone and had to do some repairs... Sorry for bad pic. I'm not phone pic worthy. Rest of highlighted line reads . Christmas period. It is taped to our board.

Windindaface -- [ Second Trip is not allowed during the Christmas Period ]

-- If your manglement is happy with it, go with it. Let the parcels pile up!

-- Is there a date on the paper? If so, what is it? Who put the notice on the board?

-- Try this attachment ( hopefully right side up ) for the NOV/DEC 2015 issue of the national magazine. It tries to expand on the "no second trip" and what it really means.

-- Has your Assistant District Representative been made aware of the "no second trips during Christmas period" notice on the bulletin board?
