#2 Is the matrix followed when an RCA needs assistance on a route or does it go by seniority?
Thank you in advance for your help ?? </blockquote>
The matrix is Never "redone". A sub on maternity leave (or any leave) is still the sub of record for their primary. Secondary would work while she is out.
Matrix is for covering a route, not to be used for assisting. Whoever is available to send as "help" gets sent to assist. It's mgmts choice.
Here's info from the Leave Replacement Matrix (M-32) regarding primary assigned carrier being unavailable. Regarding whether or not carriers assigned to specific routes should be called in to provide assistance to those routes, I believe it's the union's position that if there is at least 2 hours of work available, the RCA(s) assigned to the route should be offered the work. At least that's what I'd argue Good luck.
ETA: Sorry can't upload the screen shot from the M-32 (file too big). You'll find the info on page 5 of that document and I recommend reading the whole thing!
