As much as I love toyota and tiny cars it's honestly way too small for most routes. It may also be reliable, but like Shannonboy brought up, the durability would not be up to par for serious routes. Although I would love a Surf, anything with independent suspension eats ball joints for breakfast going up and down these roads all day; so I'll stick with my $1500 rhd cherokees.

the crazy part is these cars are loved all over Europe and used on harsh terrain with no issues, some nice meaty tires, and you're good to go. i would have killed to buy any car for 500 dollars

The space in this thing would surprise you, I would almost wager the car itself it has just as much or more space than a cherokee.
