3849s and attempts

Does anyone know if we get credit for a scan when we need to scan the back of the 3849s on attempts of delivery? My question pertains to parcels. Iirc during the last count we were still just scanning the parcels attempted and the scanner wasn't prompting to scan the 3849.

Great question does anybody know the real answer? I'll bring it up during the pre-count meeting but I'm sure the answer will be that its built in

As an addition comment on this topic... at the end of the day, on our scanners, we can do a "Review Entries" and then "Mail Entries" and it will show us all scans done for that day... so, in theory, we should be able to match that info with entries made on the Mail Count Forms... can or will that be done???  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

I checked my scanner the other day and surprise, surprise, surprise.  3849s do. not. show up on attempted.  Just on delivery of accountables/signature items.  So, yeah.  Guess we are doing those for free.

However, I plan on asking the question when I go to mail count training.

I also plan on not hanging up my scanner until I show the counter my scan totals at the end of the day.  If I don't get credit for the proper amount, a dispute will be filed.

I'm also going to bring up the extra 3849 exit scan at pre-count and if they claim it's "built in" (which is B.S.) it will mean a speed dial call to my ADR.  Also, don't forget to get scan credits for those return receipts we deliver back to the senders.

We have been told numerous times if you second guess having scanned the parcel, scan it again just to be sure. I have no qualms with that. Does anyone know if scanning a parcel numerous times increases the total scans for the day or are the scans all tied to the tracking number so it doesn't matter if you scan the same package 100 times it would only count as one scanning event? I too planned on using the scan log to verify the end of the day totals with what is on the sheet. I know it is easy to deduct accountable scans, just total scans -  accountables but never got around to testing out the multiple scans on a single item thing.

According to that it is column 17. 35 seconds if you need to scan mail pieces, 18 if you don't. 70 seconds for mail collection spm event
