If by that you mean they also turn off their alarm clock, get out of bed, SSS, and report to the station as scheduled, then yes, basically the same.
Report to the station and deliver the same mail and packages as the regular would if they weren't off? Is that not how they do it in your neck of the woods? :D

Is there much of a difference between a rural carrier and assistant rural carrier?
Rural Carrier is either a Regular Carrier or an RCA. An Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) only works Amazon Sundays & Holidays. There is a possibility of working a Saturday as a last resort but they would have to be route trained.

'Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) only works Amazon Sundays & Holidays.' -- Provision a contract or so back. Might be an ideal to relieve OT and seven day weeks of RCA's - such as myself ! As usual local management is incapable of recruiting and planning (vetting and training takes advance time !) to place such personnel. Posting on the national website ain't gonna' cut it. Talked to a customer that works in the financial aid office of a local college - had no idea such jobs existed. There are seven campi located 10 miles from our hub - on a bus line no less !

ARCs were approved for parcel help this past December...at least locally, though I thought it was a national policy.

That was in an MOU like they do for Regs working Amazon Sundays during Christmas OT Period. Contractually, ARCs can only work Amazon Sunday’s, Holidays, & Saturdays if in an emergency.

Merriam-Webster online, American Heritage (via answers.com), MSN Encarta, Oxford English Dictionary (askoxford.com), all have no entry for campi , M-W and Oxford English Dictionary show plural of campus as campuses.
