90 days for Aux RCA AL/SL Question

Hi all!

As of today I am now the most senior RCA and will be starting on our stations aux route. I know AL/SL accrual doesnt start until 90 days, and then when you convert to regular, that bank moves over with you.

My question is, what happens if you convert to regular before your 90 days are up?

I think I read your AL/SL doesnt drop till 90 days after you convert to regular also?

If say I convert 60 days into being an aux rca will I get what I wouldve earned for day 1-60 or get nothing? And do the 90 days start over again, or will it be a "time served" situation?

The accrual starts at Day 1 but you cannot be placed into Leave Earning until Day 91. Day 91 is when the first 90 days are accredited. Mgmt must be notified of when Day 91 passes & preferably in writing.
My question is, what happens if you convert to regular before your 90 days are up?
Nothing happens. No Leave is credited.

After converting to Regular (or PTF), AL earned as a Sub is paid out if you were earning when converted. SL is held in abeyance until converted to Career. If not earning leave or the AL is paid out, there is a 90-day wait to use leave when converted to Career.

You get nothing. The 90-days will start over as a “wait period” if converted. If switching to another Aux or a “hold-down”, the time starts over.

My annual leave and sick leave that was earned as a 74 (Rural Carrier Associate serving a vacant regular route) were both rolled over when I became a 71 (Regular Carrier)!

That’s cause you were in leave earning status when you went reg. If there is a break and you are back to Rca designation (don’t remember the #, maybe 71?) they pay it out

You’re right. It does sometimes happen. Depends on if a Designation change back to non-earning is submitted. Like when an Aux route becomes a Regular route. The sub is returned to Des. 78 & the route goes to bid.

Yep, aux route I was on was converted to regular route and I was paid for all Annual hours. Plus I got to work about 6 weeks as a 78 again on same route WITHOUT earning annual or sick leave. And then I got the pleasure of working 90 days before I got my sick leave returned and annual advanced. All this while working the same route LOL

That's what happened in my case, I was senior RCA and when it went to bid I won route. I continued earning leave was never paid out accrued time! I just continued working it daily, I went from 7 days a week to 5 days, that was the best thing that happened. I was getting burnt out!!!!!!!
