According to my nut case PM, these are the rules.

I am senior RCA in my office(s).

Asked last Friday why people were working aux packages ahead of me.

Her response:

According to my nut case PM, these are the rules:

"That is none of your business who I have working.

I can schedule anyone I want, anytime I want and anywhere I want.

I'm sick of you and have had enough. I'm writing you up for insubordination."

Is this the Wild Wild West? Really?

No seniority? No Matrix.

She schedules and calls in female runners under 30. Every time. Doesn't like men over 60. Never been told I'm too slow or doing a lousy job.

My union rep, can't get an answer if this is in fact true on package runs. If so, what advantage is there to being senior RCA? Same thing with Amazon Sunday...all under 30 female runners scheduled and 1 RCA who doesn't want to work Sunday and would gladly defer to anyone. By the way, this RCA (whom I like a lot and is very good...nothing personal) only works Saturdays and is not available during week.

I'm going to file grievances, I'm sure there will b e retaliation.

Any help on here...who knows about aux help scheduling and the rules, if any, would be appreciated.

AUX help is given while following the matrix. If route needs less than 2 hours of help management may work another Rca that is already scheduled on their own primary, thereby avoiding paying the primary Rca 2 hours of pay for less than 2 hours of work. Sunday work during the Christmas period is "as needed " and often times Rca's are scheduled that will not cause payments of any over 40 hour work. If all carriers will not be working over 40 hours it should be, first voluntary, then mandated according to juniority. There are no primary routes on Sunday.

You can grieve the 2nd statement. Management can do whatever they want, but doing so violates the matrix.

As far as sexism. You can goad her into admitting it. I did it all the time in my former all female office. "You're letting the women do xyz...the women don't have to obey your orders...the women get a separate set of instructions while the man gets a different...you're only doing this because I'm a man...and on and on. Out loud, in front of the office.

-- You may have good luck by including the above comments when filing a grievance and citing MOU #14 for starters.

-- You could also move on to ZERO Tolerance, the ELM's Section 665 -- Postal Service Standards of Conduct, and the NO FEAR Act.

-- You can be generous and let your favorite member of manglement chose which one to pursue.

Matrix has no baring where Auxiliary assistance is concerned. Mgmt may schedule as they see fit but it would be smarter to use those by Seniority (that aren’t scheduled 40 hours) since they likely know the territory better than the Juniors. No, most mgmt is not “Smart”.

I disagree with you Gotstsmps. As I stated above, matrix does have to be followed for any aux work that is more than 2 hours. If it is not, the Rca's that missed 2 or more hours of work may file for that time that should have been theirs and was given to others.

Your PM has a problem.

Keep a log. Make sure the unprofessional nonsense that was spewed in your direction is a part of it.

A leopard doesn't change it's spots. Anytime she does anything unprofessional in nature, write it down.
I use a format with date at the top of the page, no multiple dates on one page.
I like to keep my notes in longhand, because it's obvious by my handwriting that they are placing me under stress.

I usually take quick notes in office in an outline format. I include any pertinent tidbits in
quotation marks. I write them up at home, and explain everything about the situation anyone would need to make the notes understood. (Pretend you're explaining it to the DR, or a reporter.)

Even after filing your grievance(s), the log will prove itself invaluable. Your PM will
not suddenly start treating you properly.

(Personally, I believe mature men are an important, necessary part of society. They are part of the "Bull elephant" phenomenon. -- When herds have no bull elephants the young bulls run rampant, acting like rebellious teenagers. When bull elephants are brought in, they make the youngsters behave. I saw this on several nature programs, very interesting.)

I'm sorry you have such bad management.

The Matrix is the list of Primary, Secondary, & Tertiary routes that an RCA has right to when that route needs to be covered. Auxiliary Assistance is typically not specific to just one route needing help & it’s usually an RCA in need. The need for “assistance“ is usually realized later in the day after the Carrier has already been there for a while & after any sub would bother answering their phone.
There is a ruling from 1985 that states if it is known that 2 or more hours are needed on a Route, then mgmt should bring in the assigned sub. There is also a 1988 st are’s if it less than 2 hours, mgmt can assist as they see fit.
Mgmt would have to KNOW that there was 2 or more hours on that Matrix route to bring in the RCA. In either case, there is no mandatory rule that mgmt MUST follow the Matrix when giving assistance.

This posting is not about assisting an assigned route but is about running parcels which is not route specific. There is no Matrix for that nor any documentation rulings on who gets the hours as in Senior, Junior, or Seasonal Help.

"Running parcels " on my route has been a 3 hour and 40 mile ordeal as of late. It is assistance, has been scheduled every day this week, I'm a regular, and the 2 hour RULE does apply.

Our a parcel Runners come in & route the 2nd-trip parcels that are left. It doesn’t take long to run 3-20 parcels each for a +/-10 routes. If they only ran for 1 route, they might only get 30-45 minute. If it is parcel running like this, there is no rule as to who gets to work.

They can always fall back on familiarity of the route but being senior most likely you know all routes.

There are other offices with better work environments.

(If I were a sub, I'd transfer out of this hell-hole right now.)

It may benefit you to look around for a better office.
A sub like you is a hot commodity, there are good managers who would love to have you in their office.
(Imagine being appreciated for working hard, instead of being attacked for it.)

Just another idea.
Don't throw away your log on this Looney toon until they no longer work for the USPS.
(This is the type of detritus that rises in the organization. You may end up with this narcissist as a POOM.)

As stated above consider transferring out! The best way to test the waters is to sub yourself out to other offices. See what the grass is like in all these different offices. Find the one that is most beneficial for you opportunity wise as well as environmentally, try them a few times and then make the change. You will be much happier!
