Advice Request

Hey everyone,

I've been a carrier for 9 years, almost 3 as career. I am currently stuck at home unable to work, burning annual leave, due to a serious problem at my office.
I'm intentionally being vague because I don't know if this is the right sub category to discuss this, or if it's ok to broach this topic on this forum.
It is work related, coworker related, union related and presently, court involved.
I have been falsely accused, and I'm dealing with the real fallout from that, which is adversely affecting my whole work life right now. I already called a counselor from the EAP, but this is still rough to deal with. I've been unable to work for 10 days.
I will elaborate but want to be sure that is cool before I do.

Being that the court is involved, you may want to run it by your lawyer before posting online about it. A screenshot may adversely affect your case.
The advice I am looking for is related to how I proceed after this mess is cleared up regarding union, management and labor procedures. But, you might be right that I should wait until after the most pressing issue is resolved.

I would say general discussion is the right place to post. Depending on what specifics you choose to divulge there is always risk someone can take offense. I for one am quite curious about the details of this situation.

in general terms, an accused carrier has a right to file a grievance for actions from or lacking from mgmt. if you are concerned with losing your position, I would absolutely reach out to the DR and request a grievance be filed on your behalf if you are unable to set foot on USPS property.
the legal stuff will follow its own course, but, the union has its own responsibility to protect your employment rights. you only have 14 days from date of incidyto file a grievance. if you are at day 10, file now.
the grievance may be held in obeyance pending legal case. but, if you wait to file and charges are dropped - you have no recourse left to regain job since you didn't file a grievance to protect the position.

absolutely DO NOT discuss your case specifics here. it can only harm your position with legal and USPS.
you can ask general questions on the process.

Thanks for the info. I have never filed a grievance, so I don't know anything about this process. I will contact my rep tomorrow.

Glad you were more direct. DO NOT DISCUSS YOUR CASE HERE.

Discuss with your attorney. Attorney/client privilege.

Your grievance question in the complaint area should ask the question:
Did the Usps manager have "Just cause" to (Whatever discipline/emergency placement) that you received? Plain and simple, the burden of the proof of "Just Cause" is on the Usps.
You can find a lot of information about Just cause on the union website or here under knowledgebase.

Thanks, I will need that because Labor told me I couldn't be prevented from working but I currently can't enter my office property. So, I need to file a grievance over that part specifically.
