I recently took on an AUX route. We have another RCA who is unable to carry a full route on his own. My postmaster has asked me to give him my AUX route on the days he comes in and deliver the full routes since I can get them done in roughly the same amount of time as the regulars, rather than take part of the route off of him. When I do take part of the route off of him I usually end up taking 1/4 to 1/2 of it. If I agree to that, will that affect my hold down status? I don’t really want to, but I also don’t really want to fight with her over it. I know she can’t make me, but I’d still rather not push it.

Thank you for your input.

I would not swap as the PM is asking. At the end of the day, ALWAYS fight for and follow the contract. It will always bethebest answer for everyone involved.

You lose your SL when you don’t serve your Auxiliary.

If that RCA is on Worker’s Comp, it’s on mgmt to abide by their restrictions & it cannot affect other carriers in a negative way.
If they are not on Worker’s Comp, mgmt should not be allowing them to work until they are 100%.

He isn’t. He just transferred from another office to coast until retirement in a few months. He doesn’t want to do it. I guess unable is the wrong word. More like unwilling.

Can you tell me the part of the contract that that is in so I can point to that when I tell her no tomorrow?

if you are a 79, which means that you are the aux carrier, not simply carrying same, then you can carry other routes only AFTER you have completed your aux route. you must carry it first.

if you are not a 79, then you can be scheduled to carry other routes.

go to your contract, find article 30.2.G.3 and also 30.2.G.5 and show to your idjet:

you may also let it know that there is a settled step 4 on this topic which means that the topic has been settled on a national basis, thereby is in force for ALL carriers and if it persists in violating same, a grievance will be filed for non-compliance. that should get its attention.

This needs clarification.
For the 1st 90 days of serving an Aux route, the RCA is not changed to a Des 79 for SL earning. The rules for Des 79 still apply during the waiting period.

Ok. Another question, I schedule all appointments for myself and my children on the same day of the week so it all gets done at once. If I have to take a day off under that 90 days, does that mess with that 90 day designation? Another carrier told me it resets that 90 days.

Does not reset the 90 days. Should be explained in the same area of the contract stated above.

No reset of time. If that were true, then the 90 days would reset every Sunday, assuming you don’t work Amazon.
It is Calendar Days.
