I was told Friday I’m one of the few routes counting in my office. This will be my first count as a regular. I have 140 miles and 380 boxes and don’t have high mail volume. I probably average 2 trays of dps and 100 flats and 40 parcels a day. I don’t have a count calculator and was hoping my miles would keep me a K route at the least. Should I be safe?

You can punch those numbers in on a route calculator, and it'll tell you where you would be... and then if the actual numbers are higher or lower, then you can adjust from there... for me that's the beauty of the calculators, they let you do a lot of "what ifs"...
What is your current evaluation??? The miles and boxes won't change, and it sounds like that is what a lot of your eval is based upon... so that bodes well for not changing a lot...
At 12 minutes a mile, your miles give you 1,680 minutes, and depending on your box (volume) factor, (let's call it 1 minute per box), and if you have all regular boxes at 2 minutes per box plus the 1 minute box factor, then that's 3 minutes per box, for 380 x 3 = 1,140 minutes... so miles plus boxes might get you 1680 + 1140 = 2,820... and then do the hourly math on that... divide by 6 days in a week, and the divide the minutes by 60 to get your hours... 2820/6 = 470/60 = 7.83 hours per day... and that's without all of the other credits for mail, load time, etc., etc.... that you're gonna get... no way in hail you shouldn't be at least a K route... imo... <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

i have a very similar route 350/140 miles. currently a 46 k, with actual hours in 47k , and 45 minutes bank time. i run close to the same on dps, and parcels, but run higher in flats. (maybe 250-350 range). i'm hoping not to come out after count as overburdened.
like db said, you've got 28 hours a week in mileage alone, and 19 hours in box time with a very small volume factor. i'd suggest looking back in your time book for the numbers from your last count, and look at your volume factor. it could easily be 2.0+, in which case it would be 25+ hours for box/volume factor. i doubt much will change. the smaller your current volume factor, the less chance you'll lose any time.

That's the other great thing about using a count calculator...
