Tmail -- " Anyone knows the formula: We have 19 k routes and 1 auxiliary route.. no J routes... and 7 subs.. "

-- Already a "formula" office?

-- Article 9.2.C.5.b.

-- Step 4 ( R-95 ) has an example of the formula calculations.

-- Who is doing the AUX?

-- Any sub working full time on a vacant regular route or a route with the regular carrier out for a long time?

-- Any sub assigned to the office who is unable to work?

-- Any PTF's in the office?

-- Okay, based upon the OP's info:

- 19 regular routes and 1 AUX
- 7 available subs
- subtract the number of AUX routes ( 1 ) from the number of working subs ( 7 ). 7 - 1 = 6
- divide that number ( 6 ) by the total # of regular routes authorized a relief day ( 19 ). 6 / 19 =...

- subtract the number of AUX routes ( 1 ) from the number of working subs ( 7 ). 7 - 1 = 6
- divide that number ( 6 ) by the total # of regular routes authorized a relief day ( 19 ). 6 / 19 = 0.3156
- subtract 0.10 ( a predetermined [ fudge ] flexibility factor ). 0.3156 - 0.10 = 0.2156
- multiple 0.2156 by the # of routes authorized a relief day ( 19 ) and round DOWN ( naturally! ). 0.2156 X 19 = 4.0964 = 4.00 This is the minimum number of route on which manglement MUST authorize a relief day.
- subtract this number ( 4 ) from the total number of routes authorized a relief day ( 19 ). This final number is the maximum number of K routes on which manglement MAY ( or may not ) require a non-Saturday relief day. 19 - 4 = 15

-- d.( 1 ) Any K route carrier with a Saturday relief day who voluntarily ( prior to the formula being done ) ops for a TUE-WED-THUR relief day will get an incentive to allow the route's evaluation to increase to 53:00 ( 44K ) to 55:00 ( 46K ) standard hours. Of course, if their eval is already there, no real incentive for them to change.
