Full Mailbox + parcels

I am an RCA. Yesterday I had 2 to-the-door parcels for a house that habitually leave their mail in the box way too long and you literally cannot fit another piece of paper in. I mentioned it to my PM and he said if the box is full, they don't get parcels either...bring them back. Of course box was jam packed. I scanned attempted and chose "Receptacle Full" but then it wanted a 3849. That didn't make sense to me...the peach slip won't fit in the box but if I take it to the door I'm sure the customer would think why didn't you just bring the parcels to the door...it didn't make sense to me. I scanned the No Access. So what is the appropriate scan for this situation?

It works but needs to be attempted the next day because the customer will not know to go to the post office to get it. It's better for the route and customer to take it to the door and receive more credit if it is safe for you and there is a secure place to leave the package.

Here’s info on what to do about blocked/full boxes: https://faq.usps.com/s/article/No-Mail-Delivery#:~:text=If%20a%20mail%20receptacle%20is,Office™%20location%20for%20pickup.

In short, you take all the mail and packages back to the office, leave the 3849 in the empty box “Box full. Mail can be picked up at Post Office.”

The scan would be attempted delivery.

Well if you really to have fun with RRECS. You should have a bag and take it to the door. DOORMISC for taking all mail to the door. Then scan package or packages at front door. (NOT PROPER but get some credit on RRECS)

Proper is what everyone else has said about taking back and leaving a slip. Packages get attempted scan.

What too do. Pull mail from box place a pink slip in box stating the mail is on a 10 day hold at the post office. Also you can place a pink slip at there door. To give them notice of there mail being hold at office. If no response kill all mail as unclaimed and any other mail they receive.

I take everything to the door in cases like this, informing the customer that mail left in the box for more than 3 days will be returned to the office and placed on hold. “We do this to protect your mail from thieves, and to make sure you have not become incapacitated“, then while on hold at the office if it surpasses 10 days, all of it will be returned to sender, “Unclaimed”. Most customers after being given this warning will pick up their mail regularly. Some older/infirm customers switched to “Hardship” delivery because of this warning, either way it is fine with me.
There is never a good reason to allow a box to become over full, but bring an RCA, it would be a good idea to check with the carrier before doing anything other than taking it to the door.

3849s are sticky aren’t they? Fold it and stick it on the inside flap of the mailbox door,

Simple solution.

maybe not going by the postal rule book but what i do is leave there mail in the box thats already delivered ill just bring back any mail that i dont deliver that doesnt fit and just bring it out the next day and the next day when they pick up there mail i shove a fresh load in , lol and i deliver packages to the door, i also hold mail for 30 days if its just not picked up because ive had people especially older people not able to pick up there mail because of some medical problem, or in the hospital or in jail, lol and if sent back after just 10 days they be ticked,
disclaimer my ways not neccessarly the right way and i dont represent the postal service nor is it policy but are my own views and country boy way of doing things
