I am trying to find out why when i apply for a non career postal position i keep getting emails that tell me i do not meet the requirements for the position. I have taken the postal exam and received an 86.3. I would receive these same type of responses when i had not even taken the exam. I do not get this response on every job i apply for. I did have an interview for a part time position. Just curious as to why i get the response on some. Thanks

Unless things have changed, The postal exam you took does not cover all crafts. You would have to take a clerk test for a clerk position or a city carrier test to be a city carrier. The rural carrier test is only for entering into the rural craft (ARCs don't test in).

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe you're correct with the craft specific tests. But don't you apply first, then they schedule you for the appropriate test?

Not sure where or when the "do not meet the requirements" is happening in the application process.

Siamelover -- "I am trying to find out why when i apply for a non career postal position i keep getting emails that tell me i do not meet the requirements for the position."

--  According to Postal Publication 181, these are the requirements for the Rural Carrier Associate position.  You may find something among them that disqualifies you.

..Age at appointment:  18 years of age or 16 years of age with a high school diploma.

..Citizenship:  US citizen or lawful permanent resident alien.

..Language:  Basic competency in English.

..Selective Service:  Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System.

..Military Service:  Veterans must treat military service as prior employment and submit copy 4 of form DD-214,  Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.

..Drug Screening:  Applicants must undergo a urinalysis drug screening to ensure they are drug-free.

..Medical Assessment:  After receiving a job offer, applicants must consent to a medical assessment to determine their ability to perform in the position.

..Driving record:  A safe driving record is required.

..Employment history:  Applicant must provide the names of all employers ( including current employers ) for the 10-years period immediately preceding the date of application.

..Criminal conviction history:  A criminal conviction record check is conducted on all applicants for Postal Service employment.

--  If none of the above requirements are disqualifiers, take your email to the local post office and ask to speak with the postmaster.   The postmaster may be able to shed some light on the matter.   Also lets the postmaster know someone is looking for a postal job.

--  A l-o-n-g shot may be calling Shared Services in North Carolina:  1-877-477-3273.   There might be some type of number on the email that they can reference.

"I did have an interview for a part time position."

--  Was the interview for the Assistant Rural Carrier position?

I qualify under all those catagories. When i received my results for my postal exam it shows a long list of postal jobs or positions and beside every one it showed my test score. It just makes no sense that i get a call for interviee on some and some i get the do not meet requirements when i know i do. The one in friendship is for SVCS/DISTRIBUTION ASSOCIATE CLERK. I applied for a CCA position and haven't heard anything on it yet but also haven't received an email saying i do not meet the requirements. I do jot believe there is a separate postal exam for each position. If so i would have been instructed to take the assesment and follow up with the proctored exam. Thanks everyone for all the help. This has to be the most confusing hiring process. I worked as a correction officer for 11yrs and it was so easy to get in that job.

Take it as a sign, duck and run. Not getting hired is the best thing anyone can do when dealing with the post office. Thank your lucky stars.

Why is that? Can't be any worse than corrections? But i was naive to that at first lol

"Why is that? Can’t be any worse than corrections? "

--  Not necessarily.   In some post offices, consider postal management as the inmates, and that may be what you have to deal with.

--  Try reading some posts at delphi forums, postalemployeenetwork.com and here at RI for examples of how Rural Carrier Associates have been treated - same for regular carriers.

--  Maybe Karma is trying to look out for your best interests.

Have lost 3 RCA'S in 8 yrs to Prison Guard duty in my office. All 3 state better off. Why? Steady employment ,State pensions better now than what the PO potential could be when they would be eligible for a REG route.
