Holiday Pay

Years ago my PM said that in order to get paid for a holiday (Thanksgiving) I have to work one day before or one day after. Is that true? I'm retiring and using the rest of my leave Thanksgiving week. I would like to get paid for that holiday if possible. Anyone?

You must be in a "leave status", not necessarily working, on the day adjacent. So you could be on AL or SL or using an X day (but be prepared to have them question a SL absence connected to a holiday...not that it's impossible, just frowned upon in today's climate).
